Actually, I agree with you that we are rather spoiled for choice these days.

Then again, if someone who was a AAA gamer was complaining about a lack of variety, I could see his point in a way.

So I guess it kind of depends on your point of view.
Yep. If you don't know what is out there, of course you are going to say there isn't much out there. I own a WiiU and a gaming PC so I am not lacking in the realm of choices

That is definitely true. Being console-only these days means missing out on a LOT of interesting games.
Have: Sega Genesis, SNES, Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari 800XL, PC, N3DS XL, Wii U, GBA, Xbox One, Switch

Want: Games!!!

Has anyone said "there isn't much out there" in this thread?

It's true that indie PC games are showcasing the most amount of innovation in general lately. I won't dispute that. Now, imagine a game with that same amount of innovation, but also AAA production values. It would happen more often if people stopped buying so much damned comfort food. (Also it wouldn't hurt if "game critics" en masse were actually good at their job.)

I find it cute that people think PC gaming is somehow amazing now. PC gaming has always been amazing, at least since the 80s, which is as far back as I can recall playing via the platform. Honestly, I think PC gaming was even more amazing back then, as it was without the homogenization of necessitated console-unilateral influx we've had since the Xbox.

FYI...In the last issue of Game Informer, the highest-rated game (and the magazine's game of the month), is Undertale, an indie-PC game styled like a retro-RPG (which looks incredibly awesome, BTW). It beat out Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Halo 5, and Yoshi's Wooly World among other big, well-publicized AAA releases.

I hope that, due to the review, the game sells well (and gets ported to the Wii U).

Undertale really is a great and unique game. It has gotten routinely glowing reviews across the board actually.

I just received a copy of that game today as a gift, thanks to the wonderfully brilliant Aaron here on the forums. I have been obsessing over it, keeping myself free from any spoilers before diving head first. This seems like my kind of game!

I can't go five minutes without hearing someone go on about Undertale so I imagine it's selling well.

Therefore my unpopular opinion, or rather choice I guess since it's not really an opinion, is that I haven't played it because it doesn't look like something I'd be into despite the fact that people keep telling me to play it.

I heard about Undertale first through various VGM communities because the soundtrack is making a gigantic splash. There are already a ton of covers out there. My favorite so far is this medley played on a synthesized clarinet. There aren't any spoilers -- if anything I think this will deepen the intrigue.

After this I read a little bit about the game, and I'm immensely interested. My BFF and I have plans to purchase it at the same time, possibly during the holidays, and discuss our experiences as we play through it.
