This is great. Also check out their best CPU and GPU fpr the money articles that they do monthly since they only do the system builds quarterly so a ton of things have changed since they did one last I think.

Top of my head suggestions though,
CPU i5 4670 or the new one they just released for the z97 chipset can't remember the numbers off the top of my head though.

MOBO take your pick I'm guessing you aren't going to be overclocking so as long as you don't dump money into a z87/97 board you should be good.

GPU Oh shit this go buy this now such an amazing price. Actually how big is your case? Can you fit a full size card in there? Still buy this though it's only 20 more then I paid for my 280x

PSU I would guess you want at least 600 watts if you went with that card.

You go buy one too then send me one of your 7970's since they can be crossfired with my 280x.

Edit I'm kidding I would feel the need to go up to a 1440p monitor if I did that and don't want to spend money when I just bought one of those 144hz asus monitors.

Or the Nvidia GTX780, I don't know what local prices are for you, but the price gap is minimal over here and the GTX780 is the better card (and as I know Dave is big into Borderlands, PhysX support comes into play as well).

Tempting. I'll probably hold on to my 7970's a bit longer. I'm not 4K'ing yet, nor am I terribly interested...yet. 1440 will have to suffice for now. *sigh*

Screw it. Radeon R9 295X2 baby!

Anyway, just giving him options. No need to only post a brand because it is what you are using.

I've thought of being 4K ready if I want to make the jump, but otherwise 1080 is fine.

I don't overclock.

I prefer NVIDIA having had plenty of them and plenty of Radeons both over the years.

I prefer Intel CPUs for the same reason.

Both AMD and Nvidia have slowed down their shipments of cards due to low sales so I would personally hold off for a bit before pulling the trigger on a card because prices should be dropping very soon. The 290 I linked was $459 just a couple of days ago. Depending on how much airflow your case has a reference blower card might be better than a third party fan solution.

Get a solid state dude face! I can't believe no one suggested that yet.
