Tempest 2000 and Tempest X3 are not identical, and only the former offers any kind of full rotary support that's specifically built into the game (albeit via a hidden option).

...cue CRT's thread self-promotion

I didn't say they were identical. But the Wiki page says X3 is a port of 2000.

Just watched Christine...very good movie. I was surprised I liked it since it focused on cars..lol.

Oh and idk if this has been brought up but Crackle and Hulu have some...ok free horror movies. Crackle is actually where I saw Christine. Next is Children of the Corn. Must be on a Stephen King kick :D.

Started playing Amnesia Dark Descent. Pretty cool so far, but I don't get people actually being scared.

I haven't had a game actually outright scare me since the first time I played stuff like Resident Evil. (Well and Fatal Frame, which is pretty damn masterful at the way it builds an ominous atmosphere and effectively uses "jump" scares.)

A lot of horror games basically depend on the same tactics for creating fear, once you're desensitized to that it becomes less effective.

They're still a lot of fun though, at least to me.

Last night's movie was...

I love 80s horror films more than other eras. I think it is because I prefer makeup and fake blood over cgi hoodoo. Reanimator nicely walked the line between horror cheese and legitimately creepy stuff. There were lots of laughable scenes, especially with the cat, but also a great plot courtesy of HP Lovecraft.

Now this was cool. Demons handled the theater setting much better than Anguish did in my opinion, and the characters are far more realistic in their actions and thinking. They organize, they barricade themselves, they fight back against the monsters. No, the vast majority don't make it, but at least they try. And they advertise Coca-Cola while doing it. Demons also has one of my favorite product placements in the film, where four punks snort cocaine through a straw from inside a Coca-Cola can. I wonder how Coke feels about that? Anyway, the film features some great looking monsters and some really gross special effects that impressed me quite a bit.

And then there is this guy:

This guy's character, Tony, is one of the best and most capable of the film. If ever I end up in a post-apocalyptic zombie, demon, or vampire holocaust, I want this guy on my side. He knows what he's doing. Sure, he doesn't get to drive a motorcycle through a movie theater while hacking away at demonic creatures, but he is still damn cool.

On a really interesting note, the guy who walks around wearing the mask ended up directing The Church, The Sect, and Cemetary Man, which were known as Demons 3, Demons 4, and Demons '95 in some regions. He also served as the assistant director to Terry Gilliam for The Adventures of Baron Munchausen.

Also, great soundtrack!

Total: 22

The Beyond
Zombi 2
The Screaming Skull

Last night, my wife and I prepared a traditional English breakfast and watched:

28 Weeks Later (2007). Since a lot of members have already seen it, I will only say that it was a very good zombie film that tended more toward action than horror. (In video game terms, it is more Residnt Evil 4 than Resident Evil 2.) The original, in contrast is 100% horror, and this film lacked some of the original's amazing set pieces. (The scene in the dark subway tunnel is great, but it does not compare to the "raid" on the mansion in 28 Days Later.) Finally, the film's premise and several major plot points were based on "coincidences" that stretched the suspension of my disbelief past its breaking pooint, and the post-credits scene is completely inconsistent with the first film and serves only to lay the groundwork for a sequel. That said, the film is still very good, and I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of action-oriented zombie horror.

I agree with most of your points, except for the part where you said "the film is still very good."
