I didn't see them at E3, but it doesn't mean that Nintendo isn't planning new IP, apparently both of these are first party titles for 3DS.

I could see something coming out of Rolling Western. Just wondering though, were either Elite Beat Agents or Starfy shown at E3? I'd imagine new IP just don't always make it too E3, but they have a few every year.

Well, I had to work during Nintendo's conference so I didn't get to actually watch it - just looking over the highlights on Kotaku and Destructoid.

Only thing that has me thinking I might pick up a 3DS or Wii U is Smash Bros. Mario Kart might interest me if it is more like Double Dash - or at least NOT like Mario Kart Wii. Mario Kart Wii bored me to death. I finished exactly one cup before I put it back on the shelf to never be played again.

I really do wish I cared at all for Zelda anymore, because it seems like that's all Nintendo is doing anymore.

You know, if the SNES controller had all of these extra features built in, it would have cost more than $20. You can't really compare the two.

I can understand someone being upset at paying $50 or $60 for a PS3 or 360 controller, since not much has changed or improved since last generation. They pretty much just raised the price for no good reason. But if they had vastly improved the controllers an insane amount, and added every feature they could possible come up with, of course it will cost a lot more. That's fine, since that added cost will get you a better gaming experience.

Did you buy a Nintendo DS? Or were you too upset at all of the added features, such as a second screen, touch screen, more buttons, etc?

Looks to me like you'll be able to use the WiiMote for some games.

While I can't say I like paying what they cost, the PS3/360 (and Wii) standard controllers are wireless. The previous generation controllers weren't. The PS3 (and SE 360) controllers include rechargeable battery packs as well.

You can also find them for a fair bit less than MSRP anyway - quick check to Newegg has the standard 360 wireless for $37, SE for $50, and Dual Shock 3 for $43.

I'd still agree in general that the prices are inflated, because MS and Sony likely need(ed) to make up losses on the consoles with fat margins on accessories. But..they're not the same exact thing as previous generations.
Plus you could factor in inflation as well.

All other things considered, I haven't decided how I feel about the new system. It looks interesting at least, but I need more info really.

However, I will say this:

Luigi's Mansion 2? Nintendo just sold me a 3DS.

Holy shit. I know I am about 10 pages behind on this thread but I just got home from work.

Wow. It's like Nintendo looked around the room and decided that our faces were not sufficiently rocked. And then corrected that.

My only complaint - I wish Samus Aran had made an appearance.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

It's backwards compatible with Wii games, peripherals, controllers, accessories, what have you. Very cool.
