Started up Crysis as my next game. Sneaking around like I did in Far Cry. So far so good.

Good luck. I tried this several times and did not like it at all.

Now that it's on PSN, I intent to buy it soon myself. Been wanting it ever since it came out, but there's no way my PC could run it.

lol. Still, oh well. Doesn't mean it looks bad or anything (kind of said the same thing about Skyrim).

Did you play Far Cry? I played through that on 3 or 4 occasions after PC upgrades because I thought it was fun and wanted to see how much better it would look after being able to bump settings. There were some frustrating bits, but they were satisfying to finally get past.

I keep my machine free of crap, but it certainly isn't anywhere near cutting edge. XP Pro, Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.4 Ghz, 3.25 Gig of ram (4 minus the shadow chunk), Geforce 8800 GT with 512 memory. I'm running it at 1600x1200 with all settings on high with no AA and it running just fine and looks great.

Wow, that's the same spot, but it doesn't even look like the same game.

What are you even trying to say in this part?

Anyway, a memory boost and newer (but still older or used) video card could be added that would pep that machine up.

I was just adding that to show my PC is old enough that it came with that type of monitor. They don't sell those anymore, AFAIK.

The processor is still good? I figured that processors would have made a lot of progress in four years.

It's not terrible. I think graphics cards can really do magic thesedays, like my machine is really good itself but since my case is slim I only have access to the smaller low profile cards and it really gimps my performance on everything. So yeah if you threw in some more memory and a good graphics card (maybe with a new PSU), you might be good to go for awhile. Who knows.

I mainly meant the 'SD' part. That doesn't make any sense in relation to PC monitors. Bullshit marketing has confused people. Console people who have gobbled it up and don't know PC stuff at all will go on about how great their HD and 720P stuff is when many of us playing PC games haven't played on anything less than 1024x768 for over a decade. Anyway, not picking on you. Unless your monitor is smaller than 15 inches, it should be capable of plenty hi resolution, just not on a modern 3D game.

The processor is still good? I figured that processors would have made a lot of progress in four years.

They have and a 2 core or more processor is better than 2 separate ones, but a pair of 3 Ghz processors is still pretty workable as long as the cooling is going its job and the front side bus speed isn't abysmal. Minimum specs are as follows for Crysis:

OS - Windows XP or Windows Vista
Processor - 2.8 GHz or faster (XP) or 3.2 GHz or faster* (Vista)
Memory - 1.0 GB RAM (XP) or 1.5 GB RAM (Vista)
Video Card -256 MB**
Hard Drive - 12GB
Sound Card - DirectX 9.0c compatible

So even if you had a single processor you still clear the minimum a bit. The only thing you're maybe lacking in to clear minimum is maybe the video memory. Of course this would probably be playing at 640x480 or 800x600 with settings on low, but hey. Looking at recommended:

OS - Windows XP / Vista
Processor - Intel Core 2 DUO @ 2.2GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
Memory - 2.0 GB RAM
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS/640 or similar

So accounting for a slight loss for the processors having to coordinate through the motherboard instead of both being in the same chip, you should be pretty ok processor wise. So that leaves you with a memory and video card upgrade as I mentioned. Now you might not be running it on high at the max res your monitor supports, but you should be able to have a playable experience.
