Switch Discussion Thread
Re: Switch Discussion Thread
We should start a pool on which app makes it to the Switch first. Xbox or Netflix?
Re: Switch Discussion Thread
I hope it happens as well, not a big fan of xbox, but hey if you can big tent that network support with Switch, ios, android, and existing MS powered devices that is huge and excellent. Having the ability to have cross play, shared data and the rest of the services would be excellent. Also to be fair, I'd love to see them stick it to Sony after the hellish stuff they've pulled with their walled garden abuses the last few years on PS4 too (fortnite, etc.) They're treating gamers and developers VERY poorly and having them left out in the cold on their own may serve them right as a reminder.
Re: Switch Discussion Thread
So this morning I hand my wife the Switch saying, “hey you gotta try something.” I booted up Tetris 99, explaining you’re playing against 98 other people. She thinks this will be impossible. I know she’s a decent Tetris player, and leave to go get dressed for the day. I come back a few minutes later and she’s still going. She’s worried she’s doing awful because the speed has really picked up. Eventually she falls, but not after finishing 7th in her first match! Incredible, I am so proud!

WHOA, that's awesome!

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
Strikers 1945 is a really solid vert in 4:3. Samurai Shodown 2 is the best of the series, imo, and KoF 98 has the biggest roster of the old games (but sacrifices any real story mode). Pulsar and Blazing Star are decent horis; they remind me of R-Type in their construction.

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
Last Resort is also an R-Type-like that plays well and has a pretty awesome soundtrack, especially for an early title.
Sengoku 3 is the only one of the Sengoku series I think is truly worth a solid playthrough, but that it is.

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
Liking these last few NG posts.
Xeo good choices there. I own some, have most really on a 161 to cover most that list.
Robo Army is a solid but challenging quarter munching brawler, though while you don't have it there I'd say Mutation Nation is more entertaining.
Cyber Lip is basically their Contra, just think that and try it.
Crossed Swords is a 3rd person action-rpg arcade game basically, has a few moves, a spell, guarding, and you just have to learn a lot of attack and dodge patterns to survive the stages. It's I guess sort of like the side scrollers Capcom put out just perhaps a bit less fun until you really learn the system.
Magician Lord, near launch game, hard as nails on the bosses, challenging but fun in the stages. Basic wizard with an attack, but you can get orbs to morph into other shapes that get more life bar blocks and a whole new skill set.
Aero Fighters 2 an excellent vertical shooter, hands down the best of the trilogy but not the best vertical shooter on the system perhaps but close.
Strikers 1945 Plus, see above, I think it's a bit better due to the designs of how it works and all the different ship types and how they behave.
Not a fan of SS2, and KOF98 I'm burned out on, no comment
(I would suggest SS3 or any 'odd' SS game over the evens)
Sengoku I don't know #2, but I like one and the third one is well made so much deeper and entertaining and worthy of playing and replaying with various characters. You have to be almost tactical with it or die, not a mindless brawler.
Puzzle Bobble 2 -- Fantastic, in various ways better than the original, nice to have the branching path for 1P mode and the 1p vs com is pretty slick too.
Pulstar - Damned hard, turned me off
Alpha MIssion 2 -- Basic looking, average design but it is fairly decent fun
Blazing Star -- Probably the best horizontal shooter on the system. Excellent stage designs, lots of unique ships and firepower to pick from, has some nice bonus perks too.
I can name some other ones worthy of a peek. Andro Dunos is like a Gradius/Rtype combo ripoff and quite fun. 8Man if you like the anime is a solid side scrolling combat game but it's not stellar either. If you're into Twinbee like weirdness Captain Tomaday is fantastic. Or if you want another 194x like clone, Ghost Pilots is hard but very much like that. There are a few nice side scrollers on the system, look into Top Hunter, Spinmaster, and Blues Journey for some really good fun. And in sports land nothing tops Neo Turf Masters and Baseball Stars 2.
I know some of those aren't on Switch yet, but they'll happen I'm sure.

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
hey dudes, my wife played and loved that new Yoshi demo on Switch. I know there's a Yoshi & Poochy game on 3DS. Besides that one, are there other games in the series or similar games that could tide her over on DS/3DS?
Re: Switch Discussion Thread
Nintendo is doing a new Pokémon Direct on the 27th of February, so is about to air in 22 hours or so.
I assume this is the announcement of the new main Gen 8 games that will be released later in the year.
This will be the first 'proper' Pokémon game in the HD era, but it remains to be seen how Nintendo handles this game after the success of Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee.
Also details on whether we can take our Pokémon from Let's Go into this game, remain to be seen.
