$21 is too much for that game, ouch, and I love FF9 so that's a sad hard pass.

People went into this with the media either doing the hype garbage and people being skeptical, or you had the others being reasonable and underplaying it as a big FE update with a sprinkling of surprises and knowns with dates.

Coming out of that, damn I'm impressed. They really were quite DIRECT with that direct. I can't recall the last time one of those got me to crack a smile, but it was only after a cruel tease. I hear Dragon Quest, then get builders 2 :( ...and then a pause and bam DQ11S! I had to scroll that back, rewatch it twice, and snap a couple pics on my iphone. I've put up with a lot of me getting fed up with no english annoucement, watching increasing price drops on Steam and getting pissed/depressed. Fall? Fine, I can wait. That'll be the fall/christmas game I put some good time into. Thank you Enix, also nice touch on the language choices for those people who have to have squeeky Japanese voices and subtitling.

That aside wow also on Zelda, the art, a bit strange but I don't hate it, found it quite light and nice, though I would have been more impressed had they retained the LTTP/LA original style of it but with depth. Who cares, I don't. THough I do wonder did they add anything or is this a very long awaited revival of the original in full 3D and color? If that's all they did I'd still be super stoked, and to think the last SNES/GB era Official Player's Guide I held out so long for I just got a month or two back was to THIS GAME! Nice timing :D

That aside that Tetris game is awesome and free if you cough up that $20 a year, hell of a HUGE incentive, unless you hate Tetris. I may even try that despite my dislike of multiplayer as I'm no Tetris slouch.

The Oninaki game intrigues me too, loved the other two efforts by that team (Setsuna, Sphear) so I hope isn't the down turn but something great. The bones are there, but it looks almost like it could get overly convoluted with all the spirits and their abilities it they take it too far into some almost annoying level of pokemon-ization of it. Daemon with a demo and a date? Thanks! And Astral Chain, not sure what to think but that studio rarely breeds a mediocre or worse game so now I'm interested in that too.

Staggering of interesting titles to me alone would fill much of the year to crack them wide open plus still work what I have too so very happy and makes me wonder about the next probably around E3 time. Seems to me all the stock holder baby antics and other whining online was pretty well not justified given everything shown well beyond my picks.

Pretty impressive Direct! But... I'd say I'm salty about no news on the rumored Prime trilogy, but this is typical torture for Metroid fans. Waiting forever. :( I'm fine on waiting on Prime 4 and glad it's back in Retro's hands, but getting the Prime trilogy out ASAP would have helped the blow for sure.

Glad I didn't buy DQ11 yet even though I'm really interested in it... definitely feels like PS4 owners got the shaft here with this edition, lol wow. So the optional music is chiptune arrangements? I know the PC version has mods for some orchestral arrangements... this whole thing seems like a mess?

The field and battle music for dq Xi is fully orchestrated.

Still kind of late catching up on the Direct news, but OMG Platinum's Astral Chain looks incredible! Anyone know who's doing the music? Got some ACE+/Xenoblade vibes. The whole thing looks like something Mononlith-Soft could cook up... so I'm instantly in love.

Daemon x Machina looks amazing too and like a hyper stylized Armored Core.

Damn, Switch is getting stacked.

It was a great Direct. Mario Maker 2? Been asking for that since the Switch launch. DQ11 with 16-bit mode made me literally gasp. The Link's Awakening remake looks incredible and I can't wait for that. There better be a physical release! There has to be, right?

DQ Builders 2 and Fire Emblem: 3 Houses both look excellent really good. Daemon X Machina, I'm still not sure about, but I should give the demo a spin.

Tetris 99 was a huge reveal. It's a brilliant concept: battle royale Tetris. And they way they did it - no hype, just "hey it's out... right now... go download it, it's free!" I played a few rounds before bed. My best one I ended up #4. Whoo.

Nintendo is killing it right now.

I was surprised that we didn't get a Prime Trilogy announcement to be honest. But hey, there was some genuinely shocking announcements and I was really happy with this Direct.

It would be a tooth kicker if Zelda was download only, but I just don't see them doing that for a main line game like that as they know there is a large amount of players who won't buy digital and limiting flagship sales would be dumb.

Mario Maker I actually have barely any interest in as I never had access to the first, and had never grabbed it on the 3DS. Is there much of a single player game on those at all really? You always see online sharing of this or that and all the maker aspects, but little else. It reminds me of Little Big Planet which had a fairly decent but not super inspired first player game because they really wanted to push the share and create aspect and I get that vibe so I'd never get my value out of it.

I personally don't understand why so many of you(figurative between here, facebook, other media) are all upset over a pile of pure bs unsubstantiated rumors started by fanboys over Metroid. Nintendo never even directly hinted at them doing the Trilogy again let alone dropping it at this very Direct. Clearly they stayed quiet for awhile and had hard core reasons to with that Zelda bomb which sells far better for them globally (look at the laughable JP Metroid sales) along with the DQ11S show stopper in the middle, and the very hinted at Fire Emblem chunk. I swear if there is a reason for MPT to exist, they'd probably squeak out something at or around E3 probably for later this year Fall/Winter as a hold over for the delayed title. Nintendo likes to space out their stuff so with Mario Maker and Yoshi coming up fairly quick it has no chance at all.

I really need to play some games again, I had to go out of town for almost 5 days, was doing Virtual Boy before that, so I've not had my Switch on for a couple weeks. I put down Vesperia just as it was getting interesting and I'd like to add that Tetris to my list even if I dislike multiplayer. It kind of has that Puyo Puyo Sun vibe to it with the thrown around junk blocks.

EDIT: Am I the only one interested in the Bloodstained game coming to the Switch? I don't recall if it was ever clearly announced though pretty obvious with the 8bit teaser title being out there. I've never picked the game up so it would be fresh in my case, though I wonder is it download only? if it is I'll stick to PC on that.

For me, it's more that Prime Trilogy seems like an obvious move when they've announced Prime 4 and then promptly announced that it'll be delayed for literally years. You've kind of gotten fans excited then told them it's gonna be a while. So why not strike while the iron's hot and give fans something to play in the meantime (all while making money)? It's not an entitlement thing for me, just what seems like a smart biz decision.

I'm very excited about the new Bloodstained. It had been announced for Switch I thought, since Curse Of The Moon had been on Switch as well. I'm really hoping they put them both out physically.

Far as I recall, Metroid enjoys far greater popularity in regions other than Japan, which may not be the larger focus here.

Figure, PS4 sales are okay there, but proportionally, Japan has less of the market for home systems than ever. The Switch is close to having a larger install base in that region already. Vita is end of life. 3DS basically is too, despite what Nintendo might say. It all makes Switch the logical target platform to publish a game on in Japan. Which, predominately, is what we're seeing.

That said, it probably wouldn't be surprising to see an enhanced port of Prime Trilogy as a warm-up for Prime 4, but even if that's the case it's probably early in the process for them to put a date on it. As it is, they have plenty of other things close to release, and Nintendo has tended not to announce things really far in advance unless they're really strapped for something to show.
