What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?

Yeah I've been meaning to slap in a new air filter, it's very old for sure.

Where's the vid Hobie? lol
if the CEL is on, then there will be a code to read which will give clues. If there's a misfire, that would generally point to something funky going on with the wires/distributor/coil as well. Whoops, forgot to post link.

The check engine light being on is GOOD THING! A lot a mechanics will charge $100 give or take just to read the code(s) but there are some places that will do it for free. Auto Zone has a lot of testing they can do (batteries, alternators, etc) which includes reading your check engine codes, all for free. I'm sure other similar chains of stores offer reading the check engine codes.

Yeah, I'll probably run it up to Autozone sometime this week to get that done and pickup a new air filter.

Nice video Hobie, yeah I'm pretty sure most of that stuff I can't see at all with the big plastic engine cover on mine. I'll have to get that off of there and take a look.

I think I've seen this guy before in other videos, haha.

Heh, most of the trucks we've had over the years we've disabled the CEL on. We drive a lot of crappy/worn out stuff, and usually the CEL is always on and is frickin' annoying.

The following thread was locked:

You tell me what was wrong with it? Nothing at all until someone's opinion of Mischief Makers was attacked.

I then posted this
Seriously? You guys couldn't get enough enjoyment trolling the newb? You had to lock the topic too? All because the guy didn't like Mischief Makers? I remember having trouble as a newb around here too, but this is a bit ridiculous. How do you guys plan on continuing to be a successful website if you treat newcomers like trash?

I saw absolutely nothing wrong with that thread. People talking about games they thought were garbage. The only thing I saw wrong was all the regulars jumping all over the new guy's ass for having an opinion that was different from their own on the game, and somehow he's the bad guy and the thread gets locked. Bullshit. Get off your high-horses and get over yourselves. You aren't the be all end all authority on classic gaming and you shouldn't have the right to bully over other's opinions. That was rude as hell.
And it was removed.

Was I doing something wrong by expressing that I felt someone here was treated poorly? Am I wrong for feeling that because someone has a different opinion, that it's not okay to call them a troll and then lock the thread? That person never started a flame war or insulted anyone, but this kind of crap is okay. And then when I call them out on it, it's censored.

If this is the way things are run around here, then I'll take my leave as well. We'll see if this message gets censored too. God forbid I speak my mind and disagree with or say something dsheinem did was wrong.
there were multiple suggestions in that thread to lock it. we've done the "what games suck?" thread before. it was locked for these reasons, not because of agreement/disagreement with the content.

your "really?" post was a brand new thread posted in "General Gaming". Wrong forum. We have a thread for suggstions, and it was moved there, not deleted or censored.

Thanks for playing.
BurningDoom wrote:Oh. Well now I feel like an ass. Didn't know it was moved. Sorry.
No hard feelings, if I thought one of my posts were deleted/censored I'd have been mad too. I probably should have PM'd you to let you know I moved it, as not everyone reads everything posted everywhere. In any case, no harm no foul, and I hope you realize that I was just trying to keep things tidy, not trying to impose some kind of "end all be all authority." Though you are right that I do have a high horse that I sometimes ride.

You keep mentioning an engine cover, but none of the pictures I'm seeing show one and plastic engine covers didn't really go nuts until later.

@Forlorn Drifter
Does your state not have inspections? Cars always get an ODB read and that will give codes if the DEL is on. It means something is wrong and you should get it fixed though. It might still run mostly ok, but you might be getting crappy gas milage or something.

Not as redunk as other covers, but yeah. Maybe you can see the wires you're talking about from there though?

Whee. No I can't see the spark plug wires. It is possible that they are in the middle under that cover. Based on the info I see on that engine, I can't imagine that the spark plugs are down the sides. But I don't know.

Yep, we have stickers. However, the sensors are the problem for CEL, and most of the time they don't have anythig wrong. Of course, on trucks anywher from 20-40 years old, you kinda have to let it slide.

I'll also admit, multiple times I've gotten... poorly done inspections. Only the cost of the stickers, really.

Aight, guess I'm not crazy lol. My car is a 1996 Acura TL 3.2, for the full name and all. I always have to specify the 3.2 when I take it into places since this model runs with a 2.5 sometimes as well apparently.

I'll see about getting the air filter replaced and CEL checked out sometime this week for starters.
