Summer Games Challenge 2017 - Begin when ready!
Re: Summer Games Challenge 2017 - Begin when ready!
Apparently Landstalker works fine if you're using PicoDrive 1.51b. No objections to either of those choices on my end, though.

Landstalker works fine on the Sega Genesis. Sup, prfsnl_gmr? Haven't set up the game room yet?
Played some BurgerTime this evening. Started with the arcade version via Data East Arcade Classics. Either this game is legitimately hard for everyone or it just doesn't agree with me. I'm tapping out in level....... two. Decided to switch to the 2600 port, which apparently is one of those games that doesn't boot properly in the 7800. Lovely.

Not yet...Apparently..,things like "roofs" and "floors" and "master bathrooms" take priority. Like anyone cares about those!!!

I mean, the toilet still flushes, right? What more work could the bathroom need?

Re: Summer Games Challenge 2017 - Begin when ready!
1. Bionic Commando (NES)
2. Blaster Master (NES)
3. Life Force (NES)
4. Final Fantasy III (SNES)
5. Bonk's Revenge (TG16)
6. Mario Golf (N64)
7. Pilotwings 64 (N64)
8. Crash Bandicoot 3 Warped (PS1)
9. Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (GC)
10. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (GC)
11. Devil May Cry (PS3)
Game 3 down. Pilotwings was a decent enough game, but some of the scoring mechanics felt unclear (particularly photo scores) and the game's difficulty was very uneven.
Started up Life Force as game 4. I'm using save states at the start of each level to try and learn them, but after that I'm going to attempt the whole thing legit. Lots of instant death bullshit in this game, so wish me luck.

Descent 2
The boss of level 16 is a jerk. He comes equipped with locking missiles and the Omega cannon, which not only does severe damage but also blinds you so you can't see that you're being hit. I was slaughtered repeatedly in this fight before I finally managed to finish it, and that mostly came from pot shots with Mega Missiles and then finally spamming my homing missiles while he was in view. He caps off the frustration of the ice levels, which I realized about halfway through are intentionally dark to the point you have to use your headlamp to go anywhere, which constantly drains your ammo pool for your many energy weapons. I'm glad that section is over.
Now I'm on level 17, which means I have 8 levels in total to go. The next section of four levels feature more magma, but they're not quite as bright as the full on fire levels of 9-12. The color has been a delightful change of pace, even if the game now throws lots of tricky buggers right around corners and hiding in murder holes at me. I've got all three keys and am saved outside the red door in 17, so I'm most of the way through already. I am hopeful that these levels won't culminate in a boss that is even worse than the level 16 one, but I figure I'll prep for the worst as a precaution and save my missiles up. I'm really curious what the final set of levels will be like.

For the ice levels, were the flares not good enough for seeing where you were going?

Re: Summer Games Challenge 2017 - Begin when ready!
The flares were ok. Generally I prefer the head lamp, especially for big rooms that might have lots of enemy spawns. And the ice levels featured quite a few big rooms like this with enemies packing missile launchers.
