Pokémon Go
Re: Pokémon Go
Heading to Columbus briefly this weekend. It's for a baby shower (mine), so I probably won't be doing much collecting, but I'll at least try. Hopefully I'll be able to get a couple new ones. My pokedex is pretty modest, with 84 caught, 84 seen.
Re: Pokémon Go
Had a pretty good day today.
Since I had to head downtown this morning to go to the DMV *shudder*, I decided to stick around for a little while and stock up on supplies and hatch an egg or two. There are two parks, a boardwalk and a trail nearby with about 10 Stops along the way, so it's an ideal location.
After an initial back-and-forth along the route, and some trial and error, I found the most effective re-stock option was to start at one end of the park, work my way down the path to hit six stops, then take the shaded boardwalk back to the beginning of the park. By then the first Stops had reset and I could start my loop over again, catching what I could along the way. Came a across a new Pinsir, some Magicarp (of course), a wild Exeggutor and, finally, that damned elusive Dratini whose shadow has me haunting me for weeks. Finally caught. Hallelujah.
While making my loop, I ran into a fellow Go player. He was on his bike, but had stopped to catch the Bulbasaur I'd already caught (I finally have 25 candies! Yes!) We chatted a bit and he walked with me back down to the park entrance where he placed a Lure. I wish I could tell you some good things popped up, but the most amazing thing we saw was an Eevee. But we stayed there and talked for the full 30 minutes, which was nice. His temperament reminded me of Bogus. After the full 30 minutes we realized it was lunch time and parted ways.
So yeah. A productive and very pleasant morning

Re: Pokémon Go
I'm a few 100 away from Lv21 thanks to a crap load of pidgey farming, also my 10k egg popped and for once, not a crap pokemon -- Magmar, ended up in my top 5 best creatures list too with 1340cp and impressive with best hp and attack but not wow with ember and fireblast. Also found a 1114 scyther with fury cutter and bugbuzz and it's wow level stuff. Then a really awful but new entry kadabra in the wild.
Oh got lucky with the pidgey farming, had so much I popped my otto up to pidgeot and it blew me away with a 1162cp 106 hp with steel wing and hurricane it's only rated as strong with attack being noted. But it's a bird, I see them like bugs, not all that great and usually junk.

Re: Pokémon Go
Meeting people is the best, much like my story with the fellow Valors last week at a gym of all places.
Speaking of that, flagpole gym is still very much in our hands, and it's now at level 5! Now a Lapras joins right in the middle of our 4 Snorlax (SSLSS) so now it's a Lapras sandwich!
Although it feels kinda funny that they're using my Snorlax at the very bottom of the gym to train....
Ah well. Another adventurous day tomorrow. Will I take 4 gyms again like last month? We'll see, but I'm well stocked with potions (over 150 total of all types), 30 Revives, and roughly 350 of the three types of balls. It's time to d-d-d-d-dddduel! (oh wait, wrong series.)
*UPDATE* Just as I was closing this post to check inventory, Snorlax has returned, a decent sized stint at the high traffic flagpole gym at 32 hours. I'll drive by the gym tomorrow as my first stop to check on its status. It did net me 20 coins and 1000 dust, at least.
*UPDATE 2* For the Tanooki-ninja post. Good movesets on the Magmar, Pidgeot and Scyther, they're keepers! It's said that good movesets will always be better than CP/IV. I also evolved a new Exeggutor with Confusion/Solarbeam at 1000CP, it will be good for training against water types around 1000-1200.

Re: Pokémon Go
Wow today was pretty lame, didn't have luck at garage sales, but got some walking in with the game at least. Drained my pokeballs pretty bad (for me) yesterday and part of today, but I did have a good run of it.
Finally a 10K that doesn't blow yet again like the one yesterday, for once this pair weren't awful.
Enjoy. This one I put dust on twice, was already in the mid 330s. He doesn't puff up much the CP with dust since it's near/is dead last in AP and DP, but HP is #1 as is Stamina. Each boost popped it up I think at least 4+ more HP. I can see why the one I saw before which was in the 330s was in a gym and giving people fits, it's hard to destroy. My new favorite pink pet there.

Re: Pokémon Go
AWESOME CHANSEY with a brilliant moveset! Mine has neither of those and I'd take it in a heartbeat. I'm close to getting a new 10km egg hatched.
So yeah, my adventure today was very fruitful.
First of all, a sampling of the offbeat Pokéstops I encountered today.
Then I got to a new park with tons of Pokestops, one for each branch of the armed forces, and the army marker was a gym that got turned over very quickly.
It was at this time 4 5km eggs hatched - Slowpoke/Gastly/Sandshrew/Psyduck. I then realized I had enough candy to evolve some of these now because of what I received! So I used a Lucky Egg, and got the new following Pokémon!
I didn't encounter a lot of gyms early on today, but it turns out later in the day I did just fine finding a lot of pre-existing Valor gyms. Here are the gyms I dropped Pokémon in or trained to do so (3 drops, 4 trained, 1 battled from Mystic)
The drops:
The trained:
The battled:
So that's a lot of gyms! Good thing I had duplicates of a few! So what does that mean for my bonus? Well, I figured 7 was lucky, and I didn't battle the final gym until I was on the way home, so let's have a look:
That's right, my largest gym bonus EVER.
Finally, the 8 superstars in the Valor gyms:
So even if I lose a few tonight, I should have a hopefully good bonus tomorrow! I also caught some interesting wild examples like Shellder, Tentacruel, Growlithe, Psyduck(s), Magikarp(s), and many more.
A VERY GOOD DAY FOR MYSELF AND VALOR!

Re: Pokémon Go
Damn, all four of those eggs I've never seen any of those or anything near that other than a couple sandshrews (pre-evo of yours.)
After that last post amazingly 2 houses down a Cubone popped up, he sucked, but, whatever, now I'm one off from getting everything I've seen pop up and not credit -- curse you awful magikarp. Chansey is my new dumptruck, any chance I have some dust I'm going to keep that thing growing. If I ever find a gym with some spots on it, or can make one fairly easy, he's going to be my screw with people HP wall just to aggravate someone. Even if they have lousy ATK/DEF that move set still has a bite to it, and with 315+ HP to chip away at, he won't die easy or fast unless someone is notably much higher in level as he should have a good 3x HP advantage to make up the ATK/DEF weakness. I've seen them a little weaker than mine locally keep people out for a stretch.

Re: Pokémon Go
I would suggest to put your Chansey with those great moves in any gym you can find - it will almost always be the lowest, but with over 300 HP, a heck of a resource dump for any attacker!
Speaking of shadows (at least you got Cubone), I spotted a Dratini shadow and for the life of me I couldn't get it. Just as elusive for me as a Cubone it seems.
Out of the 8 gyms I had, I lost 4 in the past few hours. I still have the church, the restaurant (Cove), the marina, and the sideshow museum. I hope I can get a nice bonus tomorrow still.
I also got a lot of water Pokémon today being so close to it. Magikarps, Psyducks, Horseas, Shellders, Squirtles, Tentacools, a Goldeen, but the best catch today was a Tentacruel, who appraised very well and has Blizzard as its charge attack. That is the best Ice attack at 1 meter, so I'm very excited to have a second one now.
The new update 0.37.0 & 1.7.0 is rolling out to the app stores now, but I haven't heard anyone with it. Here are all the new features besides the buddy system:
- Implemented Buddy Pokémon: Trainers will now be able to choose one of their Pokémon to be their buddy. A Trainer can earn - Candy for their Buddy Pokémon by walking a certain distance.
- Made it easier to select smaller Pokémon on the screen.
- Fixed an issue where Eggs would sometimes hatch without displaying the animation.
- Improved performance reliability when a device switches networks to no longer cause the application to hang or stop updating.
- Pokémon GO Plus support
- Minor text fixes.
For me, the network fix is great, because I'm always going in and out of areas with and without wifi and that really messed up my game in certain spots. They're also warning that anyone with rooted or jailbroken phones won't be able to play anymore as a way to stop the botters/spoofers, so if you have one of those, do take note.

Re: Pokémon Go
I went and got some more dust and nothing of value at all today, mostly picked up some supplies. I did get over 3K dust so I popped up Chansey again. Went from CP 373 to CP 381 and HP up +3 to 318. Not sure how much higher I can pop it up as the arc is nearly loaded, maybe 400 at my level.
Not sure what's up with the update, still not rolled out here.
I don't have luck with water pokemon. Maybe seen/got 2 Psyduck and one in an egg. Magikarp is my only ZERO. Shellder is a 1 and awful, maybe 3 Squirtles (1 egg), 2 Wartortles (caught both), 1 tentacool, 2 seel. The only fairly often I get are goldeen and horsea.

Re: Pokémon Go
It's a slow rollout -- nobody in the US has it yet as far as I know, except those who download the APK from unauthorized sites.
But from all of that, I can provide some more information.
- Egg distance tracker has been greatly improved, which is a very positive thing.
- The buddy system works like this: Walk a certain distance in km, get a candy for the one you have assigned. There is a graphic that follows that explains this a little better. They also found walking distances for Ditto and the legendaries buried in the code.
- You can NOT put your buddy in a gym for defense, but you can send it in as an attacker.

As for me today, I got Onix from the 10km egg with Stone Edge! CP is 420 (near the very end), but it might be good for training against Fire/Electric types. I also got another 10km egg!
I lost the Pokémon in the church gym this morning, due to services most likely, but I still have 3 gyms as of right now, and as such was able to get 100 coins this weekend (70 + 30).
