Hi Guys.
Dusted down the old dreamcast the other day and I havent been able to put it down since
not been near the Ps3. I got hold of a VGA box the and set it up last night, great picture but no sound when I plug 2 x RCA leads from the VGA box to the RCA L/R on the back of the tv, theres three L/R inputs on the back and I dont get sound from any, also connected via the 3.5 mini jack connector on the VGA box.
I only get sound when I hook it all up to my amp, sounds great but I dont want to run it this way all the time, would like the sound coming through the tv like it does when using the scart.
Using a J-NTSC console plugged in to a samsung LCD panel.

I have an orange transparent DC VGA box which works very well on my LCD monitor and an older CRT monitor I use to won. However on my 2006 720p RCA LCD TV I get "unstable signal" when hooking up my DC via VGA. Is there a way around this? IT works perfectly on my 22" widescreen LCD monitor.

Did you check the LCD manual to make sure that it takes sound input from one of those sets of jacks when VGA is selected? My Samsung plasma has a 3.5 jack that is uses for sound when on VGA input since that's what you're going to have on a PC.

Does the RCA set accept 640x480 signals? If not, then that is the issue.

Re: DREAMCAST VGA QUESTIONS! come here for everything VGA w/ DC.
I'm getting some type of dithering type effect from my vga box, according to what i read i have to use 200/220uf caps on the RGB lines in the vga box but from what i see in the vga box is that there are already caps soldered on the rgb lines, so what could the issue be then?
Re: DREAMCAST VGA QUESTIONS! come here for everything VGA w/ DC.
I was wondering if a crt monitor is so mutch better as some peeps say for playing with the dc in vga mode.
i bought a lacie electron 22 blue II CRT pc Monitor for around 18$ as i dont have the money to spend on a big lcd/led/plasma tv atm. I got a samsung 46inch full hd tv but the games in vga just gets so mutch clouding its sad and i want my picture as good as it gets for this wonderful machine.
anyone has some suggestion on good lcd/led/plasmas that are 46+inch and work great with the dc without any strange picture problems?
also what do you think about the old crt monitors versus the new flat ones today ?
best regards Devon.

I edited my post after actually reading the whole 38 page thread.
This is my problem and alot of other peeps problem aswell when it comes to dreamcast on hdtvs im more or less certain its the tv that upscales or whatever it is to the picture to crap and makes these lines.
What i want to know is it worth getting some kind of upscaler box to get rid of these lines on my 46inch samsung full hdtv or simply get a new tv ?
And if the a new hdtv is to prefer then what hdtv should i get ? some of them dont support the dreamcasts native 640*480 60hz anymore and some of the upscales it to look like shit like on my tv.
I would like to hear what Hdtvs you guys got and im intrested in tvs 46inch+ as i want to get a 46inch or bigger.
best regards devon.

Re: DREAMCAST VGA QUESTIONS! come here for everything VGA w/ DC.
Just ordered a VGA Box from Racketboy, was super excited to see it in action, but I think I got a broken one.
The box's LED fades out after I switch on the DC, the audio is working fine, but no signal, A/V or VGA, can be read from the box. I'm guessing since the audio doesn't have to be 'transmogrified' in some way it just works, while the display doesn't.
I'm wondering what to do here. If this is an easy enough fix, I might try it, but I'd much rather just get a new one sent to me. I emailed the store and have not yet received a
reply. I'm hoping I don't have to ship it back.

PS. Was I supposed to get the VGA box in it's own box? or is it generally shipped loose?

A chance your HD may not support the lower 640x480 resolution.Rayek wrote:Just ordered a VGA Box from Racketboy, was super excited to see it in action, but I think I got a broken one.
