I understand how delays can add up, but they really should be communicating a bit more.

Hard to call it "vaporware", meat, even if that's what it's feeling like....even though I honestly don't need it(even if it would clean up some clutter in my room right now). I already own a nes and snes jr, as well as a gbc, and gba sp(even if there's a little redundancy since the gb/c can be played on the sp). Plus if I want to play gb/c/a on a tv I can use the gb player i'm waiting on right now
My gameroom
My systems: NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, original gba, gba sp(001), ds lite, 3ds, vita, psp, PSone(101 model) ps2, ps3(320gb model), ps4, retron 5, and Dreamcast.

It's not vapor ware, the release was just poorly managed by the company.

Kinda hard to be vaporware when the thing actually exists.

I plan on pre-ordering one on Friday when I get paid. Unless it's released by then - who the hell knows!

The first thing that comes mind when i hear that is Starcraft: Ghost, which was never officially canceled.

Hyperkin hinted at another delay in their latest Facebook post...
I am buying all Saturn games, PM me with your offerings and I will let you know if I need the game or not! (Everything must be CIB)

Currently trying to knock off all the sports games, would like to get them <$5 each! Of course if you would like to donate them I will gladly pay the shipping! :)

Still no release date, huh?

I'll likely pre-order it (finally) this weekend.

I kinda forgot about this thing, but I'm starting to get excited again. Mainly because:
- I don't have a Famicom, and this thing looks 100 times better than the FamiClones I've been using
- I can finally start importing Mega Drive games
- much more reliable than my toaster NES
- looks like a potentially great way to play (clear) GBC and GBA games. Yeah, I have a Game Boy player, but I'm not crazy about using the GameCube controller with GB/GBC /GBA games
- maybe check out some PAL games??? I'm thinking of European exclusives like Might and Magic II on SNES or some JPN/PAL games

It looks to me that it isn't another delay, it was an explanation as to the delay in December, and what they have done since then.

Why we delayed the RetroN 5 after the pin malfunction.

Once the pin issue happened we had some time to look at the console deeply and we delayed the launch. Part of this delay was that we wanted to put things into the RetroN 5 but when we started it was far too expensive. As things progressed, we were able to add more features that we wanted. Game genie wasn't originally in the cards but we found a way to do it. Screenshots had a similar story. As we have had more time to work on it, the RetroN 5 has been getting better and better.

I often hear people get really upset that it is not out yet but I just take it on the chin because I know when it comes out you guys will really like it. I am very proud of what we have been able to accomplish and there is no group of people that want to release the console more than we do. We want all of hard work to be shown for the world to see. However, we did not want the product to have glaring issues that we overlooked because we had to make a deadline. Castlevania 3 had sound problems we needed to fix that took forever. Mega Man 3-6 did not respond at all to our feature set. We have used tens of thousands of cartridges with beta testers all over the world in order to test every single game from every library. Yes..we did that. Every. Single. Game. It took a very long time. But we are close.

I promise you it is not vaporware. I have played it for hours and seen what it can do. We did not want to release a product that needs a firmware update every 3 weeks like what people by now. So are we beyond our deadline? Yes. Are we late to launch? Yes. I agree delays suck. But this is the best product we have ever created. We just wanted to get everything right. It is my hope that being upfront with the community will assure your confidence.

I'd be very interested in this if someone finds a way to hack this thing and put in a hard drive and just use this thing as a pretty affordable emulation machine with HDMI output.
