Re: Breaking Bad Season 3 Starts Tonight
I know it sounds terrible, but I still hate Skyler. I haven't even a shred of sympathy for her after her breakdown. She's so used to controlling everything, and now she has control over nothing, including Walter. She can't take it.
I LOLed at Walt and Walt Jr. watching Scarface. I'm sure it's no coincidence that AMC kept showing that movie for their mob week thing too.

It's interesting to see even this far into the series how naive and ego driven Walt is. He's worrying about Mike because of his wounded pride, when his attention should be on the increasing liability that his wife is becoming. After that breakdown of hers, it's clear that he's going to have to kill her at some point before she says the wrong thing to the wrong person. What a twist it would be if he ends up having Mike do it for him.

Whether or not you think shes controlling or not (i say shes just being logical) that seems like a pretty flimsy reason for her breakdown. I would imagine, and I'm sure the writers intended, that she lost it due to having a homicidal egomaniac husband that shes trapped with. If she was that controlling, she wouldn't be standing for what's going on, she'd be fighting walts ego driven choices like she has the whole series. The change in her actions shows that she's scared.

Which doesn't make sense. As far as she knows, he killed a guy who was going to kill his family. That's not a reason that she should fear him. I think the Ted thing really shook her though. That wasn't Walt's fault, but Saul's his guy. So with Saul's people nearly killing Ted, and what happened to Gus, she sees Walt as a psychopath.Jrecee wrote:Whether or not you think shes controlling or not (i say shes just being logical) that seems like a pretty flimsy reason for her breakdown. And at this point, maybe he is. He seems to want Mike to kill "his people" and he wants to kill Mike too. How long before Jesse makes his hit list too

But she doesn't know much. She just knows that her husband, who to her knowledge had never hurt anybody, has blown up three people, and isn't even shook up about it.

Re: Breaking Bad Season 3 Starts Tonight
She did know that the whole family was in danger though, and she also knew at the end of the episode "Crawl Space" that it was partially her fault that the family was in danger because she used Walt's money (making Walt's escape plan impossible). She's smart enough to put two and two together and know that Walt did what he felt he had to do to Gus as a result of all this. It's not like he just got up one day and decided to kill someone and she DOES know that. So I find the way she is acting this season a bit exaggerated for dramatic effect.Jrecee wrote:But she doesn't know much. You're right though. Walt is too calm about killing Gus. His whole personality has been extra creepy this season and I can see how it unsettles Skylar just knowing that Walt was actually able to kill someone. And I suppose Skylar still believes that Walt should have just gone to the DEA and fessed up about everything and that the DEA would have protected the family. I don't personally think the DEA could have protected them though, but maybe that's just because I have watched too many shows and movies where law enforcement is always unable to protect people. Based on a lot of things I've watched over the years, witness protection means - you're dead. Testifying in court means - you're dead. Snitching to the cops means - you're dead.
Of course, every thing I say about Skylar is a bit biased. I have just never liked her.

I think it's only a matter of time before Walter slips Skylar a ricin cigarette. Given how much more evil and egotistical he seems this season, I don't see him putting up with Skylar's opposition to him for much longer. Killing his own family is a line he hasn't crossed, but given his downward spiral it wouldn't shock me to see him go there, especially if it means being with his kids and preventing Skylar from talking to the DEA. This season is supposed to be the one where we really come to hate Walt, so he's going to do something major this season
They're setting things up like Walt might try to kill Mike, but it might be a red herring. Skylar is being less and less discreet about the fact that something is bothering her. That's a liability. Walt will have to kill her at some point. It's not like he can get her to back down and stop acting the way she's been. She's not gonna let him tell her what to do. She's a strong, independent woman. Even when she's afraid of Walt she's still standing up to him

"For the cancer to come back" was pretty goddamn chilling. Anna Gunn can fucking act.

Re: Breaking Bad Season 3 Starts Tonight
I wouldn't be surprised if she actually tries to kill him, but I doubt she'll succeed. Her line about the cancer coming back reminds me of when she said to Walt, "I fucked Ted." It was every bit as cold. Her and Walt's relationship is right back to where it was at that point, even worse actually. Anna Gunn sure does know how to deliver a verbal middle finger. Her delivery of those lines cuts right to the bone. That woman could destroy lesser men with her words alone.dsheinem wrote:...or she could kill him.Gamerforlife wrote:I think it's only a matter of time before Walter slips Skylar a ricin cigarette.
