I am fucking someone who is dealing firsthand with racist fucking Trump voters who are doing racist, misogynistic, homophobic shit to people I love. That's who the fuck I am. This isn't hypothetical, this is fucking real.
My partner has a 14 year old African American son whose father has long been absent, and over the past year I've developed at least a bit of a father/son relationship with him. I care for him and plan to be with his mother (and thus him) long term.

About an hour ago we were in the store getting a few groceries. This white dude comes walking down the aisle open carrying (which is technically legal but still rare even in my part of PA). When he saw my partner and her son (I was off grabbing some fruit in another part of the store) he just stood still and stared at them for about 30 seconds while they were looking over mustards. He stopped when I showed up. The kid was shook, scared, and his mom had to take him to out to the car to calm down when I checked out. A little while later after he met a friend elsewhere and his mother and I were alone, she cried for a few moments.

It is hard to really know whether this was an encounter with a racist or not, as nothing was said and no physical violence occurred but Trump's America makes it feel like it probably was. I am fucking mad, and the shoulder shrugging and "calm down" retorts from the right are only making me madder.

I write. I teach. If I can do either in a way that strikes a nerve with people who otherwise feel good about themselves and forces some productive introspection in any place where I can find an audience (including here), I will continue to do so.

I didn't say I voted for Hillary. I have never called Trump voters racist (I believe very few are, in fact...even if they absolutely voted for someone who encourages bigotry). I think that it is telling AS FUCK that every time I mention, "hey, why don't you denounce these bigoted Trump supporters who feel emboldened by his election?" the push back is always "OMG calm down everything will be fine you libtard!" not "OMG this is fucked up let's work together to shut this shit down!"
i just would not get on here and preach so much and basically call everybody idiots for voting against somebody i didn't vote for. life goes on, hope for the best.
I don't think everyone who voted for Trump is an idiot. I am bothered by their silence in the days after the election. I am bothered that they didn't see this coming, don't seem to care that it's here, and are so ensconced in their places of privilege that they have decided to just decide to disengage.

all i got to say is, sorry for your problems with trump voters who are assholes. i kind of get the jist you lumped everybody into a catagory and that's not everybodies fault that voted for the man. i guess i just see the dude different than you. he may not work out, they both sucked to me lol, i just voted for the less of two evils. i guess i wouldn't make such a big deal of whoever won. i'd just except i and just do me. but, it's all good man, didn't mean to upset anybody.

Earlier in this thread, I already said why I personally voted for Trump.

Why not go deeper into it? Because I don't care to take on the mantle of the whipping boy which some posters here are so desperately seeking. If you're all so worried about what's going on in the real world, get off the video game forum and social media apps, and go walk around town. Seek out the discrimination you're so upset about, and when you find it, oppose it in real life. Make a tangible real world difference, even if it's just one little moment. Because by anonymously preaching in this little internet thread, you're not accomplishing jack squat towards your stated goal. Each and every one of us here already had our minds made up before we walked into that polling booth. And now that the election is over, no amount of squabbling, or finger pointing, is going to change any minds here now.

How do you know we're not doing that? Besides, this forum is one of the communities I value. I will do my best to stand up against discrimination and bigotry in all the spaces I inhabit, because I love and value the people in those spaces, even the ones I disagree with.

The only bigot I've seen actively discriminate here since the election, has already been banned. So who are you standing up against here now?

This is off topic, but was that the users only fucked up post on this board? I've noticed that avatar for years but don't recall any outlandish posts. Kinda odd he'd go and post that shit and get banned just like that when post history was pretty tame.

I don't really understand the frame of reference for this post. It feels defensive, while my post was not in any way accusatory. It's cool though, I'll leave you alone about it. I must have missed the post in which you already stated your reasoning.

I will absolutely say something when I come across it happening, just as I will say it here. I will say something in every instance because I believe inaction to be a statement in itself. I make every effort I can to make a tangible difference in the real world, it seems worthwhile to make an effort here as well. Well, at least it did at first.

He went off the rails a bit when Luke got banned some time ago. I think he technically "quit" the forum then. This was just a last flame I guess.

Gotta ya. I guess I missed that part. I just thought he flipped out on this topic. I can respect whoever voted for who. That's my main gripe
