I am currently playing LoZ: A Link Between Worlds (3DS). It is wonderful, but since my children don't want me to play it without them, my progress has been slow. (I retrieved the master sword this morning; so, the adventure can really begin!)
I am also playing Aaru's Awakening (PS3). It has beautiful hand-drawn sprites. (They look like something out of Heavy Metal or a Rankin Bass film.) Unfortunately, the platforming mechanics are a bit strange, and the game is incredibly difficult. Frequent checkpoints keep it from being frustrating, however, and I will probably beat it soon.

it's funny, I've started the tutorial a few times and then don't stick with it. Yet, I feel I'm always reading about updates to the game and so on. Kind of like how I was w/ Hearthstone last year. So I feel like there's enough interest for me to really check the game out. I just need to find the time to figure out how it all works, and what class I'd feel best playing as, etc.

Grady,
I was being facetious, flippant, and frivolous, but why not? 100% of the shots you don't take will never find the back of the net.
Thanks for the contact info!
Kindly,
Luke

Playing Mad Max after playing Arkham Knight is hilarious. It's like WB put out the complete opposite of that game. Arkham Knight's greatest failing was the obnoxious Batmobile and the garbage races and garbage tank battles and garbage boss fights involving it. Mad Max is a joy to play when you're just driving around and fucking shit up. Any time you're on foot fighting dudes though...the game turns to shit. Melee combat is the worst example I've seen of the Batman style. It's fucking garbage and they should be ashamed of it. I rolled my eyes every time I saw the fucking Batmobile in Arkham Knight and I roll my eyes every time I have to get out of my car and go fight some dudes in Mad Max.
If you could somehow merge Mad Max's vehicle stuff and Arkham Knight's melee combat (even though it was worse than previous Arkham games) together, you might have a REAL game of the year contender.

Mad Max is kind of a grind fest. You have to jump through the same hoops over and over and over again in the course of trying to upgrade your weak little rust bucket and wimpy max. It's the same tasks endlessly. You can see how much more fun the game will get once you get certain upgrades but it takes so freaking long to get them. I think this is why some reviewers hated this game. It blue balls the hell out of you and is such a cock tease
"You want to take down that bad ass looking war convoy? Maybe after a couple more hours of grinding you can. Go find and loot 50 more scavenging locations, destroy 10 more scarecrows and take down a few campsites and maybe you'll have enough resources to get yourself ONE upgrade closer to being able to barely survive taking on that convoy. Though more than likely you'll still get wrecked or killed by a cheap, off screen sniper shooting at you from somewhere miles away"
I feel like maybe 100 hours from now I'll be able to recreate some Fury Road-like action, but I don't know if I have the patience to last that long as I'm already tiring of the busy work and game length padding.

Zelda: Oracle of Seasons. I havve never given this game a serious attempt before but this is a palate cleanser after Twilight Princess.
The 8bit portable Zelda games have aged remarkably well!

NES Zelda is so boss. I'm actually considering importing the original FDS version.
And yeah, the 8-bit handheld titles rule. Awakening is probably my second-fave Zelda game after the untouchable LttP.

Yeah Awakening is my number 2 as well. The handheld zeldas are really really good, especially since they were capcom made (awakening excluded). I finished Oracle of Seasons earlier this year and I loved the puzzles, dungeons and the awesome spritework. Definitely a great experience!

Oracle of Ages is my favourite of all the 2D Zelda games, even ALTTP. It's the only 2D Zelda in my top 5.
