Update: I've tried leaving it plugged in a couple of different times and it does not seem to be heating up so I'm assuming the brick is dead. Would it be safe to try to sell the console itself claiming that it works or is that too risky? I'd really rather not spend money on another power brick just for the sake of selling it but I would also like to be sure I'm not trying to sell someone a crapped out super nintendo. Wish I knew someone I could borrow one from long enough to make sure everything else is fine and that's really all that's wrong with it.

Helluva drug.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.
I found out today that goodwill now only charges $2.50 for games instead of $5. The good thing about that, obviously, is it's easier to find good deals (meaning games I couldn' get cheaper by just ordering them on ebay) and the bad news is, the competition will eventually find out and that might lower my chances of finding anything.
