What RPG are you playing right now?
Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
Yeah, that was my bad. I always thought it was a combination of the two Dreamcast games, but I'm reading and finding out different. Remember, I wasn't the one playing these a ton, but my brother!

I spent two hours with Soul Hackers last night. Cyberpunk dungeon crawling based in a late-90's world sprinkled with hacking and demons. I've loved every minute of it so far.

Decided to forgo Skies of Arcadia for now, as I have played it fairly recently.
I've moved on from Phantasy Star to Phantasy Star II. This game is such a mixed bag. The graphical style and soundtrack are absolutely exquisite but damn these dungeons can be a chore.

I think PS II has the best OST out of the first four games.

I think this is the part where I nerd out and post a metal remix of PSII's music.

Made it to Uzo Island in PS II, gonna take a break, bought Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga on Wii-U. Let's see how this one pans out for me. I'll come back to PS II in a couple of days.

Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
I remember renting PS2 back in the day on the Genesis. I finally beat it for the first time on XBox 360. I have no problem admitting I used a guide. The amount of time it would take to brute force those dungeons without one is insane without luck on your side. And don't even get me started on the final boss' location.
I'm finally starting Dragon Age: Inquisition. Loved the first one, the second game was meh. I've heard nothing but great things about the third. The only thing I've had any friends complain about was the length, but that's a positive in my book as long as it doesn't feel artificially inflated. One of the things I love about a good RPG is that they're long. If you're invested in the story and gameplay it doesn't even matter. I couldn't tell you the amount of hours I spent in Oblivion when I first got it breaking into houses at night and stealing stuff to fence.

Huge RPG fan.

I've been holding off on Dragon Age: Inquisition just because I can only play on 360/PS3. My computer isn't a true quad-core (it's a ultra-low power i7), so I can't even run it there... and I'm not sure how it'd do anyway, it's starting to get a little long in the tooth.
Sadly, I've seen a lot of PC copies in my local Dirt Cheap, but they're all opened and don't have the redeem code... which tells me those are copies that folks bought, redeemed the codes, then returned them to get their money back. In other words, theft.

Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
I'm loving Dragon Warrior III right now. However, I do miss the modern conveniences of my attacks not whiffing if my first person kills the enemy first. I also miss going to a shop and seeing if my character could equip the item and if their stats would increase. But, I'm loving the class system and there is an ease to the leveling. It's not a simple upwards climb like in II, but the grinding doesn't seem too bad. Plus, the extra grinding is making my party feel more powerful!
I started Eternal Poison last night and though I played it for a short time, I'm liking it already. The game play is very Disgaea like. The story structure and multiple characters are very much like Odin Sphere. The linear battles and not be able to grind remind me much of Fire Emblem. And the artwork is unbelievable. I've only played a little, but so far, so good.
