I'm in agreement that drug and alcohol addiction is better dealt with as a public health issue rather than over focusing on it as a criminal issue. My field of psychology needs to be taken to task here though because it's hard to get good mental health care out in the rural areas. I don't know the solution to that. Telehealth has mixed results.

Wow Glenn Beck, there's a name up until recently I had not heard in awhile. You know what the recent run on him was? The right is so fed up with the guy they dismiss him, and his listenership was flagging so he now supposedly thanks to Trump has had some epic coming of age thing going on mentally and decided he's now part of the left or wants to be. I recall him way too well when he was popular and he's about the last dude I would ever imagine going there, but if he did...stunning, respect it too if it isn't just a desperate grab to get attention.

I've read that piece, something stands out to me our friend the writer put forth. I guess I am one of those deplorables I suppose (racism aside obviously) and I'll just quote his bulletpoints:

They feel their needs are not authentically represented within this huge government. They feel their concerns are not being voiced by any major news outlet.
They are tired of being called “dumb,” “bigoted” and “racist.”

That pretty much sums up my feelings on how Obama and the left have treated me over the last 10 years and I'm tired of it. While I would never vote for Trump, him stumping on that made my happy to hear someone at his level saying such things as a reason to vote for the guy. I feel like it is a crime now to be a white male because if I complain how everyone else gets their say, and if I say something else, I'm called the garbage listed above which I definitely am not. I blame the right too, for the top two reasons as well.

If that guy with his family rolls through town I'll speak my mind since he clearly seems willing to listen and not judge like so many others who flip out at the drop of a hat. Maybe Trump is another full of shit say anything to get elected politician, or he will do stuff about those bulletpoints and make things a bit easier for me, and everyone, and not just minorities only. Everyone needs a bit of help as it stands now, not just some where if others speak up they need to be told you're privileged so shut the fuck up and go sit in a corner. I have to thanks to the shit of the last decade panhandle off family to pay all the bills in a month and get groceries, so the sooner a corner turns and my wife can get a 40/hr a week job again at good enough pay I can have my freedom back and maybe actually have a savings once again in a very long time. And maybe I can speak my mind without being called reckless bullshit. Maybe I can say you know cop lives, not just black, but all lives matter without being called a racist piece of shit too. People need to remember freedom of speech is for all, not what you want to hear and otherwise attack or hide in a lame safe space. And he's right, only a few Trumps lovers are racists, just like (and coming from a muslim) only a few muslims are terrorists.

Well, they accused Glenn of helping Hillary since he didn't support Trump. He was a huge Cruz backer during the primaries.

He was definitely all-in on Never Trump. Pretty sure he voted for Evan McMullin. Other conservatives voted against Trump, too, like Erick Erickson, formerly of RedState. Incidentally, I have a friend of mine that writes there, and she also was an adamant Never Trumper. RedState was very much against Trump the entire election.

I have not read redstate for awhile but I do (religious rambling overkill aside) agree with the guy and read his stuff at http://theresurgent.com/ which is a solid resource. Never once did he ever like or back Trump. His complaints mirrored mine 100%, other than him saying that God is why he can't deal with him. Morality alone, religious roots or not, was good enough reason to dislike the guy and enough for me not to vote for him (or Hillary.) They laid out quite a few reasons he is a problem, stuff amazingly some of the left didn't even pick up on why he was an issue so it was good reading daily. Even so, at least unlike the mouthier left right now, he has the scruples to basically say what is done is done, let it go and hope for the best as more vilifying behavior and being shitty to each other will just empower even more people 2 years from now to put a boot into the lefts ass again.

Keep in mind in 2 years another round, a larger one than this one, of senators come up and many of them are purple/red leaning areas that got scooped by democrats and they're right on the firing line. If the left can't find some maturity and start working finally after a decade with the other side as they did under Bill Clinton and Reagan/Bush before them, they'll get another electoral reminder that people are pissed and fed up.

I think I'm gonna be sick. It's 20 fucking 16! How can people still be like this! I live in the south and I see racists on a regular basis, I'm always like "do you know what fucking year it is?". Not that racism was ever a good thing, but it belongs in the past.

How can people be so blinded to the fact that a different skin color or religious belief, do not make you any different? We are all the same people with our sins and hearts making us equals! I'm so angry now!!!

That's the exact one where I snapped and backed off the page. I feel so sorry for that girl who's been rooming with a racist while trying to make a life for herself. What can you do? I would have lashed back in anger but that won't help her and only serve to solidify the racist belief that this Hispanic girl doesn't belong here.

If everyone in there was that bad the numbers of the WAR(White Aryan Race) out west and the KKK (all over, more so south) would be swelling.

The college bitch needs to be thrown out and probably will be since schools these days seem pretty intolerant. I will say though I never scrolled all the way down, those assholes who pulled the old white guy out of the car to repeated curb stomp and beat the shit out of him make me sick just as much as the rest. Behavior just like that is why a bunch of non racist white people went out and voted for Trump too.

I know you probably just want to believe in a just world where you can give people the benefit of the doubt, but you're giving excuses to people for their atrocious behavior and blaming the victim. Sometimes people just do horrible things. These are examples.
