Given how ps2 -> ps2 slim was a HUGE difference , I am surprised by this time ps3 still bulky that even its successor is smaller than it is even though it packs more capable hardware.

Maybe the final slim ps3 model is coming soon after ps4 is out? Maybe like PSone?
Every single Playstation has eventually been released in a smaller form, even the Vita's getting a new size in Japan IIRC. It would be unusual for the PS4 not to see a slim edition.

I saw the unboxing video ...

Looks like the PS4 is very well/cleanly built, I kind of felt like it was an Apple product. Since most of the items are probably off the shelve, would you think a manufacturer can build their own PS4 clone

I know it won't work because it does not have the software, but still it could be great to find ps4 motherboard replacements and such...

I'm pretty sure that the motherboard and the pin configuration of the CPU are proprietary and couldn't just easily be replaced. There are some parts that seem replaceable at a consumer level, but the "heart and brain" of the system are unique in terms of physical shape and size and in terms of security controls...

I think if you take it to China, nothing is impossible

I managed to get Killzone, AC4, and COD Ghosts for a combined $80 :)

All will be here tomorrow, several days ahead of the PS4. I guess I can sit around and look at them

I'm jumping into AC4 with having only played AC1 and some of AC2, so that could be interesting. Otherwise I don't think there's much I'm planning to get in this launch window other than some PSN games (and the two that look like the best ones are free this month for PSN members).

How for only 80? I had to buy 2 and get 1 free.

I opted for Killzone, AC4, and Knack.

I almost went BF4, but would rather play on PC. I also considered NBA 2K14 but was afraid I wouldn't play it enough.

I had ordered Killzone with a coupon for $25 off = $35

I received a B1G1 coupon from Amazon for preordering the PS4, and since Amazon wouldn't give me a free game in addition to the one I preordered (KZ), they sent me a $20 off coupon to apply with the promo to a new order. So I got COD for $40 and AC4 for free = $40

with taxes = $80

Oh the b1g1 was only if you preordered a ps4 game not the console. So it was essentially b2g1. I assume you hounded customer service and they just threw $20 off at you?

I mustve missed the $25 off coupon for kz

no, this was a separate B1G1 coupon - not the B2G1 that's going on. But yes, I chatted up Customer service since when I got the coupon I was already unable to cancel the KZ preorder.

And the $25 wasn't specifically for KZ - I actually can't recall what it was for anymore but I do know it was a gaming-related credit.

In any case, $80 out of pocket for $180 worth of games :)

You mean this promotion below? It does say Ps4 game. I tried to cancel my Kz preorder too. It essentially is a b2g1 as those who already preordered a game received this notice.

Amazon just said screw it and gave you $20 to keep you happy.

'Dear Amazon.com Customer,

Thank you for pre-ordering a PS4 game. You have qualified for a special Buy One, Get One promotion on select PS4 titles.

Add two of the qualifying items to your cart and at checkout apply your individual claim code:

Your savings will be displayed in your Order Summary. Offer is valid through November 16, 2013. '
