The version of Metroid I played was a connectivity bonus in metroid prime, the emulation was ok (i did notice one or two bugs though, and lots of slowdown at busy sections, including the final boss fight) but the control scheme switch initially took a bit of getting used to - B on the GC controller was jump and A was shoot. Presumably this was to match those buttons functions in metroid prime itself, but it still felt weird to a long time gamer like me. I really enjoyed metroid, I dont think it deserves some of the negative reputation it has - I didn't find it too tricky to navigate without a map, and besides some ridiculously hidden items, nothing felt unfair. One thing that did bother me though was starting with only 30 health when you die. Grinding for 6 health bars worth of life and 200+ missiles ready to fight mother brain took AAAGGGEEES. Overall, i'd say I rate the metroid games I've played thusly so far: Super Metroid> Metroid > Metroid 2 > Metroid Prime > Metroid Fusion. I've really enjoyed them all so far though, so I'm looking forward to getting around to playing through prime 2 and 3, and purchasing Other M (i know itf very different) and Zero Mission ( I know it's a remake).
Mario 3 is a tricky beast for me - I often alternated between loving it and hating it, but my final feelings with it overall are that its a good game, but it's certainly not my favourite mario game. That said, I have weird tastes in mario games (my top 3 are probably sunshine, mario bros 2 and either New SMB DS or Mario Land 1), so I guess I should expect my opinions to deviate from the norm. I enjoyed the raccoon flying mechanic, but in return, I felt the physics felt a little too heavy, and the swimming especially felt wrong - holding up to jump out of the water caused me far more grief than it should, because its something that is specific only to this game. I played through this game on the wii all-stars version of the game, and to those of you who played through on the NES I salute you - I really appreciated the continue function during world 7 when I game overed a few times (but I didnt have that problem in world 8, strangely enough), and being able to save was a godsend - the game could drive me nuts playijng it for an hour, spending all day beating the NES one from start to finish would've driven me insane XD.
Worth pointing out that I made sure to beat every level along the way - I wanted to experience the whole game, so I didn't even use a P wing unless I'd died on the level several times near the end already - so I didnt miss any of it.
Anyhow, Next up: Maybe A Boy and his Blob for Wii, aswell as Kirby's Dreamland 3, which I'm playing in co-op with my girlfriend currently.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Re: Games Beaten : 2011
I've played several titles so far this year, but I've beaten only one game, Silent Hill, for the second time but the first one was on the emulator years ago. Still impressive, doesn't beat the sequel for me, but I have to admit it was in a way more creative. Thank God there's an easy way to dodge the final boss attacks as I was low on health, without recovery items, low on ammo and on top of that I forgot to get the rifle at one point. Also, watching the "bloopers" after the bad ending video felt really weird...
Started Killer 7 but in the middle of it I got tired and bored (though I still consider it as a good game), and dropped Forbidden Siren after only 1 hour of play, I really wanted to like it but I knew that in a long run I won't finish it because of the frustration, maybe I'll give it a chance in the future. I bought Mass Effect (PC) yesterday but my notebook spitefully decided to overheat and I can't play for longer than half an hour, I need to get it repaired soon. So it's Resident Evil Outbreak and Harvest Moon FoMT (GBA) now...

Total: 19
I downloaded Street Fighter IV in a recent app sale, as I had long hesitated to pick up a a touch controlled fighting game for anything more than $1. So when it hit 99 cents, I bit. I was very impressed by how responsive the controls were, how fluid everything moved, and generally how fun the game was to play. I've gone through a few 1cc runs already with some of my favorite characters, and can see going back to this regularly for quick 15 minute bouts.
Killzone is a game that I have had forever. I finally started playing it 2 or 3 years ago, but got maybe half way through, hit a wall on a level that was kicking my ass, and gave up. In the meantime, I purchased Killzone 2 when it came out and it went on to become my favorite console exclusive FPS of all time. In anticipation of KZ3, I decided to take another crack at the first game.
The first game is actually quite interesting for its unevenness. Some of the level design is really well realized for the PS2, some of the AI is clever, the way they handled the level load outs were innovative, some of the story is intriguing, and a few of the battles are memorable. On the other hand, there are many noticeable boring stretches, some problems with movement and visibility in the engine, and the difficulty is maddeningly inconsistent. Still, I was glad to play it and it is certainly one of the better FPSs on the PS2. I'll be firing KZ2 up next

Jumping the gun a bit here. SNK Gals Fighter is in the mail along with my new Neo Geo Pocket Color. I decided to emulate to get an example of what I had just ordered and, much to my surprise, I found one of the most silly fun fighters I have seen in a long while. The game really manages to pack in what makes an SNK game fun but without the disgusting difficulty curve or complicated combos to memorize. The sprites are incredibly clever and well drawn. I cannot wait for the real deal to arrive!
