What was the last movie you've seen?

Assault Girls 1/10

Dear sweet mother of god.

This has to be one of the most boring movies ive seen in quite some time.

I get that its a commentary on mmorpgs, but did it have to be damn near 40 min of silence as people walk around and look serious?

This movie might have worked as say a 30 min short, but as a feature, this is just criminal, and honestly saying the run time is 70 is being generous, if you take out the credits and the opening exposition its barely an hour.

Thank god i saw the new True Grit earlier. I guess Assault Girls had to be my come down.

I watched Surrogates last night. It was an average movie, not too bad, but not too good. The whole movie had a plastic feel to it, which I guess, considering the content and as long as this was the director's intention, makes it perfectly done. One awesome part was the (this has no bearing on the movie really so don't worry about spoilers) battle scene. Basically soldiers are just dolls that are controlled remotely by a real soldier (who might also be a doll, which is confusing) from another area. So basically it's a FPS in real life. The one scene even shows a remote controlled soldier getting blown up. It switches to the remote location and a real soldier sitting in front of a computer screen complains that he got killed. The officer in charge yells at him about the "dolls" not being free, but he connects to another one that proceeds to drop into battle. Just like getting killed and respawning.

The movies I've watched most recently are Kickass, Legion and When a Stranger Calls (The 1979 version with Carol Kane, not the remake.)

I really enjoyed Kickass. I haven't read the original, but the movie was thoroughly entertaining. Especially since I was really in the mood to see something blow up.

Not really sure what to say about Legion. I guess I was expecting more fighting to be going on than there actually was. I was pleasantly disturbed by some of the visuals tough.

When A Stranger Calls is one of the rare instances where I saw the remake before the original. I usually hate doing that, but what can I say? It was late and it was on one night and *shrugs* I was bored. Anyway, I don't remember much about the remake other than the babysitter spent the whole movie in the house ( I vaguely remember a second house. Is that just me, or was she going over to a neighbors to use the phone? I can't remember.) So I was a bit surprised watching the original and seeing the house scene only took up 1/3 of the film. All in all I enjoyed it but I just felt that the middle of the film kind of sagged in comparison.

It's a psychological thriller from India. It's about an introvert who begins getting calls from himself, helping him in his life. But things take a turn.

Loved it.

I watched "The Pink Phink" the first Pink Panther short, the first one who got an Oscar.

It starts pretty slow but the gags and the acting get better at the second half of the film.

Unfortunatedly the soundtack is repetitive and kind of dissapointing given how good Freleng was with musical shorts. It's just the Pink Panther theme over and over again and it gets boring pretty soon.

?

There's no acting in animation, unless you count voice acting. I thought Pink Panther cartoons were absent of dialogue...

Afaict the Panther did get voiced in a couple of shorts, maybe even more. Wikipedia should have a list of them.

My sister is OBSESSED with that True Blood show. I've never watched it. We have seasons 1+2 on DVD so maybe I'll give it a watch.
