I agree. Now a days almost everyone is at least somewhat familiar with computers, and video games are more mainstream than every before. Nearly everyone my age that I know plays games on some level, be it Call of Duty, Street Fighter, or browser games on Facebook.

The latest issue of The Economist has articles on the ever increasing size of the video game market, which is expected to jump even further in size in the next five years. They included the ESA's statistics, such as 1 in 3 senior citizens playing some kind of game nowadays.

I don't consider myself a nerd or other people nerds for regularly playing video games and the like. It IS very mainstream these days. But I consider myself a nerd because I blast 8-bit music and other video game music when I do just about everything, passionately discuss games and debate which retro games are best among my friends, literally get excited when I get steals at thrift stores or find out about promising "new" old games or accessories, surround myself with ninja turtles and retro gaming goodness, and get a good deal of my jollies in life from all the aforementioned things.

Man..I surround myself with Final Fantasy's 6 7 8 9 & 13 music. I'm going to have to start adding some Mega Man music in next and the music from Ninja Turtles III the Manhattan Project if I can find a OST for that ><

Yeah, stupid facebook gamers have stole my flair for being a gamer. I would never talk about myself playing video games back when I was in middleschool, I live in a red neck parts so everyone was more interested in playing frog baseball than playing the SNES.

I liked it when Homer was best friends with Barney Gumble and suddenly it switched over where Homer was closer to Lenny & Carl, but did I hate when the show decided to make that transition.

I am more nerdy than I admit. I have yet to tell many people I game, even the ones that are pretty close. I never mention comic books. That shit still isn't main stream.
