Just played TMNT: Tournament Fighters on SNES for the past week.
Don't see what all the fuss was about. All this time I'd been told it was an amazing game in spite of it being a licensed game, having played it the best I can say is it's good for a licensed game.

Yeah, I'm a big Ninja turtles fan, but TMNT Tournament fighters just doesn't stand up to its contemporaries like Street Fighter II, Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown, et cetera.

I just love Tournament Fighters because of Chrome Dome.

Final Fantasy IX is the best one

I like it, but it isn't as polished as some of its contemporaries. Isn't it one of the first fighters with a charge bar for super moves?samsonlonghair wrote:Yeah, I'm a big Ninja turtles fan, but TMNT Tournament fighters just doesn't stand up to its contemporaries like Street Fighter II, Real Bout, Samurai Shodown, et cetera.

You could say monochrome, which would be correct and sidestep any arguments on the pea-greenness of things.Snatch1414 wrote:When referring to the original Game Boy, I always say it's "black & white". I know that's incorrect being that black and white is not necessarily the same as "not color", but it's still annoying when someone acts like they have no idea what I'm talking about.

I don't get the fascination either. It's above average I guess.the7k wrote:Just played TMNT: Tournament Fighters on SNES for the past week.

Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition is a licensed fighter too and I like that even more.
Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
I didn't know TMNT TF had a popular following as it's a pretty cheap game to pick up on SNES (Genesis too.) I just know its far more loved than is even reasonably fair on the NES (it controls like crap and is short) and ends up being worth like around $100 just because of when it was released.

I totally agree with you guys that TMNT Tournament Fighters is overrated. (And so is TMNT: Smash-Up for that matter.) TMNT:TF has nice graphics (even nicer in the Japanese version wink wink) and good audio, but the play of the thing doesn't hold water to the best fighters of its era. Some people are just enamored by branding is all I can say.

I beat Duck Tales on the NES last night...
...I did not care for it at all.

TMNT: TF is an above average-to-good fighter. It's not amazing, but it's amazing for a licensed property. There's some excellent spritework going on in the game. But it's also got some pretty cheesy AI, working both for and against you.
I like the NES version a lot, to be honest.
And the Genesis version is absolute garbage.
Oh, did I mention I played through Justice League: Task Force recently? I think I forgot to record that one. Another game with a lot of cheese, perhaps more than TMNT: TF.
