Re: The Wrestling Thread
I legitimately forgot Saraya and Ruby Soho were still doing that lame Outsiders stuff. Saraya has got to be one of the biggest flops AEW have signed. That was a great write up, Raging Justice! You covered absolutely everything going on in AEW really well.

Here’s my sign! If you’re watching tonight, keep an eye out for it.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
The show was a lot of fun! While the undercard matches were hit-or-miss, the main event match was a blast. Also, the crowd was great, and I got to see some legendary wrestlers live (e.g., Ric Flair, Sting, and Edge).
Sadly, I don’t think my sign would ever have been visible during the broadcast, but I held it up a few times just in case. Still, it’s a great venue for pro wrestling, and I had a great view of the ring.

how is it in real life without commentary and not seeing all the angles? is it still engaging?prfsnl_gmr wrote:The show was a lot of fun! I had a ball, but it really depends on the crowd. At least half the fun is booing the heels, cheering for the faces, and yelling at the refs. The crowd was really into it tonight, and some of the guys sitting behind me were incredibly funny. It made for a really engaging event.RCBH928 wrote:how is it in real life without commentary and not seeing all the angles? is it still engaging?prfsnl_gmr wrote:The show was a lot of fun! You're very lucky. Flair and Edge being in AEW is a relatively recent thing and you got to be in the same building with them!prfsnl_gmr wrote:The show was a lot of fun! Apologies for anything on the show I didn't prep you on, like who the tag champs are (Ricky Starks and Big Bill) and who Hook is, but there's so much to try and keep track of in a big promotion like AEW and you never know exactly what's gonna happen on any show.
Like I was surprised to see Andrew Everett on the show. He got squashed by Claudio so he probably didn't make much of an impression, but I've seen him in Japan and on the indie scene, and he used to have this really funny gimmick where he convinced himself that he was like this seven foot tall giant wrestler like Andre the Giant and wrestled as if it was true
For that reason I got a laugh when Claudio choke slammed him and also when he did the "giant swing" on Andrew

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Interesting! I had no idea who that guy was. He entered the ring quietly during a commercial break, and it was obvious from the start of the match he was going to get squashed. My brother mentioned that Claudio was a really good wrestler, and I agree. It would be cool to see him get some better bookings.
We lamented the women’s match, which was very poor, and my brother noted that all of AEW’s good women’s wrestlers had left the promotion. He also questioned the wisdom of having that match leading off the second hour, and he noted that AEW still had a lot lot to learn about the strategy behind booking, etc. I believe it.
We also got a few Ring of Honor matches before and after the event. The few before the show were both pretty good, but we didn’t stick around for the ones after the show. I hope we didn’t miss anything!

Yeah, Ring of Honor is a whole other can of worms LOL. I didn't prep you on anything from that because I don't actively watch it. Claudio was the Ring of Honor world champion but unfortunately not many people watch Ring of Honor. Their show is like online only and I think you have to pay for it.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Interesting! AEW does get a lot of flak for the time slots where they position their women's matches. Sky Blue has been improving in the ring but she still isn't great in general. She has her moments though. Kiera Hogan is a nobody in AEW and I don't recall her ever having a stand out match so there wasn't much for the crowd to be excited about there. I wouldn't say all of AEW's good female wrestlers have left, but some of them don't get featured much anymore for various reasons or they are on the injured list. Mariah May and Deonna "The Virtuosa" Pirrazo are very good wrestlers, but they are recent additions to AEW and haven't had a chance to shine yet. The overall booking and presentation of the AEW women's division is a mess right now too so that's also a problem. I feel like the blame has to be placed on Tony Kahn. There was an enthusiasm for women's wrestling at one time from AEW fans, but it feels like it's always three or four levels down on AEW's priority list these days.
Did you guys see the video on Serena Deeb? I saw it on TV so I assume you guys saw it in the arena as well. She's actually really good so I'm happy she's returning but again, it's likely AEW won't do anything great with her.
