If anyone has a Meijer in their area, I got Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu for $40 today. They have Santa bucks which gives you $10 off a $50 or more item and if you buy the pokemon game you get a $10 off coupon. Not too shabby.

That's where I get my food, but I have seen nothing about santa bucks around here. Maybe it's random.

Well I re-set my account on there, I was early on that stuff and it was like just by phone at that point so I'll see if they reward me. Pokemon Go being yellow based (the one I could tolerate finishing and enjoyed the most) I'd probably snap it up especially at the reduced rate. The pokeball is nice and all but I can't justify that at $50 or even with the coupon. Odds are to avoid waving my arms around causing some lame form of Wii PTSD over crappy motion controls I'd probably entirely play it in mobile mode.

I can only play Pokemon Let's Go in handheld mode. Controlling the game with one joycon is really cumbersome and the motion controls are not for me.

Maybe it's just me (useless optimistic speculation incoming), but I feel like over the next year or two Switch is really going to be a strong console. I might be wrong, but I just got a feeling, y'know? I feel like the biggest hurdle will be attracting certain big name Japanese 3rd party developers to give the big guns a bit of Switch love *cough*Capcom*cough*.

And not related, but I think Konami has something up its sleeve right now... and I think it's Switch related.

Are you implying Konami plans to make games again?

I do think Sega and Capcom need to be doing higher-end development for it. Yakuza would be great to play on Switch, for example, and if Yakuza worked on PS2 and PS3, it can work on Switch.

The Yakuza developers already said the Switch isn't "right" for the Yakuza series.

I think this is part of the problem with Nintendo, so aggressively still pursuing their family friendly image, it has created the impression among developers if not the public, that Nintendo platforms are for children and grandmothers, while games like the Yakuza series are obviously aimed at adults (especially for the domestic audience).

In other words, they don't think there's an audience for the Yakuza series on the Switch.

Personally, I think there is space on the Switch for the series, from a perspective of variety anyway. One of the reasons Octopath Traveler sold so well was because there's clearly a hunger for JRPG's (and exclusive third party software in general) for the system but I do see their point, especially since for people like me that also own a PS4 and a decent gaming PC, that would always pick a Yakuza game on those platforms over the Switch if given the choice.
