Absolutely not. However, discounting all the terrible things that Trump represents in order to achieve the goal is unacceptable in my opinion.

New meaning to the old phrase about the road to hell being paved with good intentions. What shall I tell my children about how in the hell a man like Trump can be the leader of the free world? They have heard all the vitriol right from the man himself on news coverage.

Agreed.

Thank you so much, Sarge. I often express this sentiment, and it is nice to hear someone else express it too. :D

Tell them to be better than that, and tell them that it is unacceptable even from someone who has been elected the leader of the free world. Tell them they have to keep working to make the world a better place because there is so much work left to do and so much of it will fall on their shoulders.

Sarge does make a good point. Usually I'd love some rational political discourse, without the hyperbole and divisive aggression, where we can discuss important political issues with the respect they need.

But still, Trump...

Right. I believe that a large number of Trump supporters do not agree with the various bigoted and xenophobic things he's said. But they're ok with him saying it, which validates those views when they give him power.

It's like Europe thinks all Trump voters see the man like this:

Nah.

Admittedly for some it was like this though:

Thanks.

I don't think that will play too well with my 18, 17, or even 14 year old. As children (my daughter just turned 18) they have no real political agenda and only see the man as a reflection of their country's morals, values, and goals. I just can't spin that particular yarn in the right way to comfort them.

Incidentally, I wonder what percentage of Trump supporters have children.

Trump picked a great Vice President in Mike Pence. Watch the picks for his cabinet, as much as he is loathed, he is very savvy to win be it running a business or the running the office.

The Electoral College really needs to be abolished
I stated this before and this election emphasizes it! Glad that Trump won, but this is so wrong. Clinton could have won if decided by Popular Votes, Trump won due to the Electoral College! This has happened four times before in past Presidential elections!

My California Blue Democratic state was posted as such immediately after the polls closed! The Electoral College "winner take all" decided without even bothering to count the Republican votes. This too is wrong! :?

Oh and lets get rid of the term "Popular" Vote and call it what it is. The ACTUAL vote count of the people!

http://www.nytimes.com/elections/results/president

Hillary Clinton
59,838,642 Actual Votes (47.7%) - 228 Electoral College Votes

Donald J. Trump
59,624,676 Actual Votes (47.5%) - 279 Electoral College Votes

This is where the Electoral College does work. Going by the majority of the states, the candidate is chosen. In this day in age when the lesser of the population decides the President, is it right?
