The dude who probably hates it when people "talk politics" always brings up politics on this forum
no offense but you're literally a stereotype even down with the nostalgia, and hating everything "woke" but watches them anyways.

Who are these Real Fans, and why does my personal history with the cartoon and toys growing up somehow not count, hrm? And how is it the other folks my age with whom I talk about the show also don’t count? Let’s be clear, forum posters and YouTubers and their commenters are no more and no less real fans than anyone else.

Don't you know? A fake fan is someone who is part of the "woke monolith" that just drinks the mainstream Kool aid.marurun wrote:Who are these Real Fans, and why does my personal history with the cartoon and toys growing up somehow not count, hrm? A real fan is someone who listens to everything that YouTubers like "geeks and gamers" say but totally doesn't drink the anti-sjw Kool aid and isn't part of a monolith.

maybe we can accept that people are split about it, some like it and some don't. I think the Sandra Bullock movie Birds I think it was on Netflix was a huge hit, when my friends saw it they said we recommend that you do not watch it, its worthless. So people can split on something I guess.

Definitely a fair comment. Just that retro justice's post on REAL fans being the ones that dislike the show and brushing off the "fake fans" that enjoy it was such a dismissive comment.RCBH928 wrote:maybe we can accept that people are split about it, some like it and some don't. You guys know I’m a faker through and through. Nobody who pretends to be as woke as I apparently do could ever be a REAL fan of He Man. That cartoon never encouraged people to be sorry socialists. Eternia is such a libertarian macho Heaven there’s nothing there for me.

The Cannes lineup is so damn fantastic. Really excited for the Cronenberg film especially. Here's the teaser, but as a warning it's fucked up

Crimes of the Future looks exciting (sorry I just guessed, didn't open the link yet). Not a big Cronenberg fan yet, I've only seen Eastern Promises, A History of Violence, and Dangerous Method, but I loved every minute of those. Thanks for sharing this, hard to get excited about new films these days mainly because I'm not able to go to cinemas as much.PretentiousHipster wrote:The Cannes lineup is so damn fantastic. Re: Movies Talk! Talkin' about movies!
I recently watched Vinland Saga. I'm generally not a fan of anime, but this is different. It's far more mature, and although originally about a kid, it doesn't feel childish.
That said, I finished it rather quickly, and would like to watch something along these lines. It's not a TV show, but has anyone watched The Northman? Any thoughts or opinions about it?
So many modern era "swords and sandals" shows are awful or gimmicky, including 300, Beowulf, Clash of the Titans (the new one), that awful Hercules movie. Troy was the better of the bunch, but of course is still early on.
TV show wise, I really enjoy Rome and early Spartacus. I'm hoping to find something raw, gritty, but not too silly and not too mundane (the fact that Vorenus and Pullo are connected with so many major events actually made me enjoy s2 of Rome less).
Anything along these lines I might like? (Movie or shows are welcome.)
