My sister said she would get me a PS Vita as a graduation present once I graduate from college in late April.

I got Super Mario All Stars (Wii) for Christmas 2010 and I still don't have a Wii. Mostly my own fault thoughZeroAX wrote:A few weeks? Pf. Oh, wait, no I don't. I have to pay for my own entertainment, LIKE A MAN.

Re: Playstation Vita thread
Next few weeks are going to be amazing. My PC comes Tuesday, then I'll have the Vita by the following Monday.
So there's already a portable Vita charger from Sony, but when will we get a clip-on battery pack?

Older. Not wiser.
Re: Playstation Vita thread
Alright, so I broke down and bought an early release system, so here are my thoughts so far.
Screen is a amazing, bright and vivid and a really good size. The overall feel of the system is great too. I like the positioning of the analog sticks as I haven't felt any of the cramping that I did when using a PSP. The interface is pretty great overall too, it seems I have quickly picked up putting certain tasks in the background and opening and closing apps. I have played one PSP game so far on it (Yggdra Union) and PSP games look really really good on this guy. No weird resolution issues from what I can see and the colors and brightness really help the PSP game look it's best.
Here are my thoughts on the games I have played so far:
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
I've only played a few minutes, but the controls seem great. The touch things they did with it seem really intuitive. I was skeptical about wanting to use touch at all on this game, but there are a couple of different ways that it is used. For example, when you want to pick up a weapon that you're near you can touch the weapon, or you can touch this context-sensitive icon on the right-hand of the screen. The context-sensitive icon also shows up when taking out an enemy via stealth. I probably won't touch the weapon or the guy to do that action, but I found myself really liking the icon on the right, it felt perfect. The story starts off really abruptly, but I won't pass judgement on that until I've played through once.
Little Deviants
This game is really good. I'm glad I was basically forced into getting it with the bundle otherwise I probably wouldn't have bothered with this title. It feels a lot like Wario Ware (not that I've played a whole lot of that) in that it is basically a collection of small games with different uses or ideas for using the touch controls. I was really surprised at how awesome some of the games were. An example of a cool use of controls there is a level that is basically like a shooting gallery where robots, deviants, or people show up behind barn doors. It's the standard shoot (touch) the bad guys, leave the humans/deviants alone or be penalized. The fun little trick comes in where the robots are facing either towards the screen or away from it and you basically have to knock them from behind using the front of the screen or the back touch pad. Really fun.
Escape Plan
This seems like a really cool puzzle game. The style seems cool and the puzzles seem cool. Can't really say if it's worth the price yet, but I'm only a couple of levels in.
Overall impressions of this system are very good right now. More when I play with it more! I plan on getting Lumines and Hot Shots! soon.

Re: Playstation Vita thread
Played it at Best Buy. Didn't even know it was out! Not bad, although the buttons feel kinda clustered together and the analog sticks seem tiny. The screen is fantastic, as I expected.
I didn't notice while playing it, but is the Vita made out of the same type of glossy black plastic that the PSP is? Ya know, the kind that collects fingerprints and dust like they're precious commodities. I hope not.
I'll buy this once the price dips under $200.

From the Joystiq review:BoneSnapDeez wrote:I didn't notice while playing it, but is the Vita made out of the same type of glossy black plastic that the PSP is? Ya know, the kind that collects fingerprints and dust like they're precious commodities. I hope not.
Hopefully they'll come out with a silver one, or a matte black hardware revision. With all that glossy plastic, two surfaces designed to be touched and swiped, and the "crystal black" color, I don't suggest keeping one of these around if you're a fugitive from the law. It'll be completely covered in fingerprints the first time you remove it from the package.
