I just read that article you linked and wow... I thought that game was dl only for handhelds...

The game boy games on 3DS download are called 'Virtual Console' too. Are you SURE it's coming to Wii VC?

I might be alone in this, but am I the only one who wouldnt mind a smaller touch screen controller release (like 4 inch or something) in order to be able to have smaller controller?

Anyhow, trailers for all the games that Nintendo had written on the walls at the end of their conference can be found here: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/e3_2011/index.html

The realism is phenomenal. Being stranded out in an open desert though doesn't seem like good level design to me though.

Hey guys... I just thought of something *Yes I know, scary*

Remember how the original PSP was once used in conjunction with the PS3 as a "rear view mirror" of sorts on a racing game (can't recall which one)?

Well.. what's stopping Sony from somehow integrating that same technology into the NGP/Vita and using that handheld with the PS3 in a similar way to how this new "Wii U" controller is looking to be used - like using your handheld controller as a fps scope and whatnot?

Sony still has time to work on the tech before release I bet. :?:

They are doing that actually and have demonstrated it as well. For example, the game Ruin can literally be paused on the Vita and then resumed on the PS3 instantly. What doesn't remain clear, however, is if you need to purchase two copies of the same game. However, I think you are right and Sony will work very hard to essentially make Vita do similar things as the Wii-U controller.

Hell, this isn't an entirely new concept since the PSP sort-of could do it with remote play.

Yes, but isn't that only a small fraction of the game? Having lived through similar scenarios in my Army days as a tanker, obviously I'm a little biased.

that's cool -- I didn't know about that. Now I want to find out which game, since my PSP sits in a dock right below my PS3's monitor! Haha.

I always hoped that Sony would integrate more PSP-PS3 connectivity. You know about Resistance Retribution, right? If you had Resistance 2 for PS3 you could sync your PSP to your PS3 so that you could use a Dual Shock to play Retribution on the PSP, thus making use of both analog sticks.

Yeah but now with the PSV having dual sticks, I'll just wait to play Resistance on it.

All they would need to do is build some way of blocking people from copying games and pirating. its very possible.

I think you're confusing a hard drive with a flash cartridge. Hard drives can be fragile, drop it and your data is probably gone. Either way its not economically smart to use either of them. They cost WAY more to produce than a DVD.

Going back to a snes/playstation styled controller over the Wiimote would mean that alot of people who bought the Wii because it was easy to use would not buy it. For example, my older brother who loves his NES very dearly, bought a Wii because he and his wife and oldest daughter could play games together. His wife, who hasnt gamed since she had her 2600, loves playing Wii Sports, Mario Kart, and Boom Blox. She would never buy into using a standard controller so she would not buy a Wii U if it went the way you were stating.

As for cartridges, it is all about production cost. DVDs and DLDVDs cost shit nothing to make. Blurays cost more but are still viable. A new proprietary cartridge would be cost prohibitive for a new console. I know you are going to say that SD cards are cheap, but they are also not secure and like all flash media have a set lifespan.
