Ugh, minus rep these for me. Overpriced games, clueless management, and disc-based games sometimes lacking their cases.

I Found a PDF for the Desert Industries Thrift Stores in Utah list, FiftyDollarCurse is always posting crazy inexpensive finds from one of these Mormon Thrift stores.

Found another in Grand Rapids, Michigan for the list.

Epic Electronics & Gaming
6049 Division Ave. South
Grand Rapids MI 49548
616-534-EPIC (3742)
http://epicelectronicsandgaming.com/

I checked them out yesterday. The guy working was quite helpful and even offered to show me stuff in the back that wasn't on the floor yet. Great selection of loose and CIB stuff. They also had comic bins full of manuals and boxes to make your loose copies complete, which I found to be pretty unique. All in all, definitely a place worth checking out if you're in the area.

I was in Austin the past weekend visiting some family and I had time to swing by one of the stores in the directory here.

Game Over Videogames [Austin]
911 West Anderson Lane
Austin, TX 78757
(512) 454-4263

I had a very pleasant experience here. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They have a "try before you buy" policy so you can play any game you like to see if you want it. Everything was extremely clean and a large portion of the games had their cases. They had a fairly large selection and nothing that I looked at was outrageously priced. However, some of the popular first party games were a bit high on the pricing but I understand why retro game stores have to do that in order to keep them on the shelves.

I ended up getting a Gamecube controller, a Gamecube memory card, Rogue Squadron II, and a N64 expansion pack for just shy of $60 with tax. Not a steal by any means but I was happy with my purchase.

As a side note, I also really enjoyed looking at their display case of all the different consoles. I got to see several consoles that I had never seen in person before such as the Sega CDX (which was a lot smaller than I thought it would be).

I don't have any retro game stores in my area so it was a real treat to visit a quality establishment such as this.

Need stores in the Las Vegas area:

GAMEWORLD:
5620 West Charleston Blvd # B Las Vegas, NV 89146
(702) 307-1440

PROS: largest collection of new and retro games for sale I have seen in Vegas (they even have Shantae for GBC)
CONS: Piss-poor trade in value, hard to find games are horribly overpriced, not the best in terms of customer service or bargaining.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

GAMERS PARADISE:
1550 E. Tropicana Ave #4, Las Vegas, NV 89119
(702) 432-4700

1000 N. Nellis Blvd Suite #C, Las Vegas, NV 89110.
(702) 438-2143

PROS: Customer friendly, knowledgeable staff, reasonably priced games and best trade in value in Las Vegas
CONS: my only problems are more personal preference. Finding either store if you haven't been there before is tough as both stores are kind of tucked away in a strip mall setting and both stores don't have a large selection in handheld games or hard to find games (from what I was looking for, their most expensive SNES game is Chrono Trigger at $50 and most expensive GB game is Pokemon Yellow at $25)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

GAME HAVEN:
5905 S Eastern #110
Las Vegas
(702) 451-0002

6965 South Rainbow Boulevard #105
Las Vegas
(702) 360-0005

PROS: I have yet to have time or visit the store
CONS: Location. Both stores are on the outskirts of Vegas and make it a bit difficult to get to, you may have to spend some time to seek them out.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GAME REPAIR:
3250 North Tenaya Way, Las Vegas, NV
(702) 655-1921

PROS: As the name suggests, they specialize more in repairs than anything else. They have the cheapest prices for repairs in Vegas. Got a battery replacement for a gameboy game for 6 bucks where everyone else charges around $10-15
CONS: small store, tucked away in a strip mall (it's in the same plaza where Target is), they have a small selection of retro games--small. They have more current games than anything else, but it's worth a look.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GAMESTOP:
All over the damn place

CONS:
No retro games, poor trade in value (a Wii for 35 bucks? GTFO), unknowledgable staff (asked one clerk if they knew of places in the area that sold Gameboy games. They told me 'Gameworks' and 'Game Crazy'. I told them that they just named an arcade chain and a defunct gaming chain and that they were completely useless.)

Trade World: -1 Rating
4428 South Westnedge Avenue
Kalamazoo, MI 49008
(269) 903-2309
Trade World has changed their name (again) to "The Game Store". Checked it out yesterday, they have limited carts but lots of Sega Saturn and newer discs. Its also not on Westnedge anymore its on Kilgore, diagonal from its old location, not sure of the new address.
Found another in Grand Rapids, Michigan for the list.

Josh is awesome, he has found me lots of games I was looking for and they have a lot of arcade resources. Big +1 from me.

Also could you add a +1 to both of the 2nd Chance Stores.

This place is awesome, I picked up a almost cib final fantasy 3 for snes(missing map) for 30 dollars, also saw Mega Man x in bow for 15 and smash bros 64 for 15. So they do have pretty good prices, also they have a couple steel battalion controllers if anyone is looking!
