Yup, there's an American version. When ever you have a question like that regarding Castlevania games, this is the best place to go...
http://castlevaniadungeon.net/Games/kiddrac.html Kid Dracula is one of the few games that the site doesn't compare versions of. If you check out, for example, Castlevania III on that site it'll list a bunch of difference between the American and Japanese versions.

only difference is that I found the Japanese version for a lot cheaper than the US version.

So there is no real reason to buy the game if you own the American version?

Oh boy...(all SNES) Starfox 2 Earthbound Complete in Store Display Only Box Final Fantasy 3 Wild Guns Mega man X3 Those are the hard to find ones. Ive got a bunch more of the "top shelf" games as well. Ill have to look again after work.

Hmm I don't have that many super rare games yet, though I do have a LOT of classics in box, particulary for the NES, SNES, and N64....I guess what I'm most proud of is my copy of Sin and Punishment for the N64, complete and in box, near mint condition. GREAT game. Star Fox 2? Was that just released in Japan only?

It is a repro, it was never released.
