I still think Nintendo should start making new SNES consoles, re-release the best physical games for it, port all the fantastic DS RPGs onto SNES carts, and then make new ones.

I'm serious.

And I bet plenty of people would be against it for bringing the value of their collection down, or I can't tell the difference between the original release and the newer reissue on ebay now.

Can't be any more of a ridiculous and risky move than anything else they've pulled lately.

I would break into Nintendo HQ to get one of those prior to launch day if it were a real thing.

I don't think many DS games would port well to the SNES. The Nintendo 64 might work. You would have to reconfigure the control schemes tho.

I can't believe I wrote a serious response to this topic.

..it is good to know that the Wii U annually consumes less energy than the next/previous consoles mentioned below...it even beats the Wii:

Well, you can get rid of all the low poly 3D and you're set.

Plenty of great 2D RPGs, side-scrollers, and platformers to port over. I don't think it would be an issue for too many games.

Well aside from the fact that the SNES can't just do everything that happens to be 2D. SNES wouldn't even be able to run a lot of GBA stuff.

Porting DS stuff to SNES would not be a trivial task by any means, and there'd have to be a lot of sacrifices.

It's similar to how Mega Man 9 and 10 couldn't actually run on an NES without some significant changes.

I would buy a SNES that has wireless controllers, HDMI, and plays SNES/NES games.

I wouldn't say the Wii U has A LOT of ram. I think it has 2GB? the PS4 got 8 GB. I do not think the Wii U problem is a power problem. Its less than the others, but it can put out graphics on par or better than 360/ps3 . Yet the 360/ps3 games are flying off the shelf, while not so much for the Wii U. I guess we all can tell the problem is the games...
