start by getting rid of any alcohol you have in the house.

Preferably not by drinking it.

Dropping booze cold turkey, unfortunately, may not be the best idea if you are an addict. If you can drop it cold turkey (as I did with smoking) DO IT. But if you are seriously addicted, stopping cold might not be the best idea.

Talk to a doctor man, that's your best bet. See what he/she has to say and your doc may be able to prescribe you medication to help with any dt's.

But whatever you do, be proactive and take care of your health.
It's possible I drink like .40 liters of vodka a day. Not sure how I even do it really seeing as I'm a pretty small person. I'm not fully dependent on it and don't feel addicted really (I'm not really the type to develop an addiction, I've dropped cigarettes, marijuana, and several prescription medications cold turkey without much of a problem).

I don't plan on drinking a drop today (...obviously), and I'm just going to see how it goes. I'm not sure what to expect really, hopefully I don't experience any kind of severe withdrawals or anything. I haven't really done research on it yet, so I'm not totally sure if alcohol addict is a purely mental thing or not.

edit: Did some quick research and apparently this is going to suck, and the withdrawal symptoms can be very bad. I'm going to go cold turkey if I can though.

Good luck Fox...

As do the hanging water tubes in the later levels. But that doesn't make them less beautiful or less rewarding once you get passed them. On the contrary...

Yup. Dude, please see a doctor.

Alcoholism gets physical for some people quickly. When I kicked tobacco, I was just a jerk for three days (well, some say I'm still a jerk). Alcohol is a different animal; some people flip out with DT's, some have seizures....just make sure you are well.

Best.

Just finished getting lost on 9gag for about an hour. Never heard of the site until tonight, and I think it's very much replaced Knowyourmeme and Memebase in my funny pics diet.

So Miyamoto's going to be working on smaller projects in a more hand-on position soon huh? Sounds intriguing!

@brunoafh

I've been there, too. Maybe not as far along that road as you may be, but there was a definite moment in my life a few years ago where I crossed a line and had to look myself in the mirror and ask "What the F**k are you trying to do?".

It's hard, doing what you're about to be doing. You're going to make mistakes. You might fail once or twice. But if you keep at it, you'll make it. Eventually you will find a lot of things about life you did not notice while you were drinking. Days will seem longer (in a good way) and you will feel better, physically.

If you need any support, you know you'll get it from the people on this board. Given the average age around here, odds are you are far from alone on this level.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
