Finished getting caught up on Young Sheldon, though with the strike it'll obviously be awhile before the new season gets into production. Though The Simpsons and Family Guy are back. And speaking of The Simpsons, I've gone back to the older episodes, originally I was going to go back to season one and watch them in order but I decided to break rank with that idea.
I also heard that the new season of Creepshow should be hitting Shudder on the 13th, while last year's third season of the Are You Afraid of the Dark? revival will be hitting Paramount+ on the 11th.
Really wish Paramount+ had every episode of AYAOTD, but sadly they're missing 11 episodes from the first five seasons (according to Wikipedia), as well as the entirety of the last two seasons from the '99/'00 revival. Thankfully, these episodes can be found on The Internet Archive, albeit in quality that's marginal at best. Not sure about the audio cassettes or the long out-of-print YA books (of which I own the first one, which I purchased what seems like ages ago). And there's a 2XL simulator with the AYAOTD cassette Tale of the Phantom Manor. With '90s nostalgia in full swing it's rather fucked that no one's making this media available to the public... legitimately, that is.
So what have you guys been watching lately?

Was a great season- thanks for the heads up.bmoc wrote:I just finished watching it. It is soooo good.Ziggy587 wrote:Whoa, I didn't realize the new Castlevania series has premiered. I've been waiting for that to come out!
Netflix has some surprisingly good anime. Seen Super Crooks or Great Pretender?

Speaking of NetFlix... Has anyone seen the show Mind Hunter? It had two excellent seasons, and had a really good set up for a third season. I Google it every once in a while to see what's up, and it went from "There are no plans" to "Yeah, we're 100% not making a third season, stop asking!" This really sucks, because it was a great show with a great cast. Apparently the show was too expensive for the size of the audience. To me that just seems like NetFlix execs have their heads in their asses. Every time I randomly search for something on NetFlix, I can see that there's a TON of NetFlix original content. And most of it looks like garbage to me. Mind Hunter was an excellent show. Perhaps it could have had more views if it wasn't lost in a sea of mediocre garbage. I never once saw the show recommended, like NetFlix loves to do with so many other shows. Perhaps if more people knew about it, then more people would have watched it. It's hard to blame the show for it's smaller audience when it could have been promoted better. I mean, you couldn't get away from those two Dahmer series. Same ballpark of content, I don't see how Mind Hunter wouldn't have been more popular if it was given a proper chance.

My wife loves that show as well. Netflix is super into metrics and does not buy into the sunk cost fallacy at all, unfortunately.
Re: So what have you guys been watching lately?
I think they're more interested in promoting certain shows over others. It's weird that they promoted those Dahmer series so prominently, and other murder type stuff, but they didn't seem to promote Mind Hunters at all. Metrics can be an acceptable answer. But I don't think it's a question of metrics or abandoning an investment. They could have drawn more viewers if they promoted it. So the real question is, why did they not promote it? Why do I constantly see these dumb shows recommended to me, while this show flies under the radar?

I have to get on that. I watched the first episode and it seemed pretty good. I loved the first series, even though I thought season 3 was a bit shaky. Some of the most epic action scenes I have ever seen, even blowing away a lot of popular anime. Also, the soundtrack was sublime even though some people complained that they didn't use enough music from the games. I hope the music in Nocturne is just as good. I never get tired of listening to these tracks:SamuraiMegas wrote:Was a great season- thanks for the heads up.bmoc wrote:I just finished watching it. I'm at a point now where I actually wish we could get a Castlevania game based on the two Netflix series with hand drawn animation or cel shading. If Konami ever wanted to get people to love them again that'd be the way to do it.

I don't want to pretend to know how to run a major entertainment powerhouse, but I kind of feel like Netflix had two great ideas, online streaming and DVDs by mail, and have continued to succeed despite every decisions that has followed.
I rarely see such high-level decision-making that I can credibly believe is based upon drunken dares.

Netflix aren't the only ones to make asinine decisions. I'm still salty about Difficult People not getting a fourth season on Hulu. Just one season to give Billy and Julie a definitive win. And if not a whole-ass season then at least a film follow-up.

I'll give Netflix some credit for picking up Cobra Kai from youtube. A lot of youtube channels I follow regularly shit on everything Netflix does but have nothing but praise for that show. It's obviously a favorite of mine as well.
