absolutely HATE to leave negative feedback. I hate it. I know that shit happens in real life. And I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. But I'm not really sure how patient I SHOULD be.
The sitch:
1/21 -- Mephikun PM's ME offering up Little Big Planet PSP. I sort of want it. But he wants like 2 games and shipping for it. I say nah. And he offers it up for 1 game (Kingdom Hearts GBA) as a straight trade, so I figure what the hell. Because of his low feedback, etc he agrees that it's fair that he ships out first. He says he'll ship it "tomorrow [Saturday] or Sunday."
2/2 -- I get a PM from him that says "Sorry I haven't shipped it out, I haven't really been able to make it to the post office."
2/6 -- I get a PM from him that says "I'm so sorry, I haven't been able to get to the post office."
2/11 -- I get a PM from him that says "I promise I'll get it to you soon. I can't drive and I haven't been able to get to the post office."
And that was the last time he logged in. I did send him a PM on 2/25 giving him the chance to just back out, but like I said he hasn't even logged on since 2/11, so at this point I just assume that I'm waiting on nothing. Of course I didn't really lose anything, other than a possible trade on a GBA cart. But obviously this is just poor trading practice. So like I said, I'm just not sure how else to respond to this?

I think you've done the right thing. It's been over two weeks since he bothered to log in. No items were lost, true, but this is terrible trade etiquette.noiseredux wrote:-1 Mephikun

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I agree (mostly), and what I hate is the idea of making our much needed/appreciated feedback system more complicated, however the idea of a "neutral" seems a good idea to me. Yes, I know it is more work, but when someone is out only time, it should differentiate from a full-blown scam job, or being sent items purposely misrepresented.Flake wrote:I think you've done the right thing. The community needs to know the information obviously, so something needs to be said in the forum so others can proceed w/caution. Tough call noise, and I think were all in the same boat at times and completely understand the need to inform the community.
What I have been doing when I get a box that just doesn't meet the description, but also I don't believe they were purposely deceptive, I just don't leave feedback. As in that case I think negative is not fair necessarily, but neither is positive. The problem however is the idea of no middle ground, thus no one really knows your trade was "just ok", they only see that "all positive" and no negative. There are 2 times I would have left neutral feedback, but did not feel that it warranted a negative, so in the end I left nothing.
Things like calling items complete, then finding out it it's missing the bonus disc, or trading for 22 games and getting 21, obviously not malicious, but not fully positive either (and yes, these should first be worked out in the pm process before hitting the feedback thread). Other things would include shoddy packaging, messaging every 4 hours for an update on a package (when you've sent them the tracking information).
Point is, with our current system of pos/neg, I think you did the right thing in alerting the community. Hopefully mephukin is ok and there isn't some terrible thing that has happened, so if he can let us know the circumstances, obviously the possibility of removing the neg. is out there.
...with all that said.
