you can use Xpadder, Pinnacle, Key2Win, etc to accomplish the same thing with the 360 pad. You just wouldn't have the trackpad that the PS4 controller has.Tanooki wrote: I also like that idea of Guild Wars 2 using a controller, using the mouse and the keyboard on that gets annoying after awhile.

Trackpad is a given, not that I really need it as this laptop has a really high quality one I don't bother much with as I have a wireless mouse.
I think that probably would bother me too having xbox's annoying as shit reversed SNES buttons still there while trying to recall the weird shape on the PS pad it lines up to. And the PS3 pad I tried to get that working on my last computer with some software and it just refused to do a damn thing other than charge it up.

The last two generations are the best in gaming history. All of them are amazing, but i think that these last two have a lot of diversity and can give anyone anything.
do you like hard, challenging platformers? Indies, (some) Sonic games, Rayman Origins/Legends, and the Mario titles are for you.
are you more casual, laid back? Play some Guitar Hero Or Call of Duty.
Do you love sprawling open worlds? Fallout, Skyrim, the newer LEGO games, Infamous, GTA, or Saints Row.
Like hardcore shooters? Fallout, Deux Ex, Halo (maybe), Uncharted (on hard difficulty) and Xcom.
but, i digress. I love all generations, but these are the pinnacle to me.

I've read some things in this thread that I can't quite wrap my head around, but this one takes the cake.KayJay wrote:The last two generations are the best in gaming history.

I don't think it's that strange. Notice how he mentions indies? Well, that covers a lot of what has been developed recently that's of note:BoneSnapDeez wrote:I've read some things in this thread that I can't quite wrap my head around, but this one takes the cake.KayJay wrote:The last two generations are the best in gaming history.
Pier Solar, The Walking Dead, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Tower of Guns, Fables, Rayman Origins, Spelunky, Wasteland 2, Amnesia, Braid, FTL, Minecraft, Alien Isolation, Borderlands, Mega Man 9, Deadly Premonition, and so on...there is a lot that has come out in the last two generations which are quite incredible.
Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
I think if you're into indie games it is the best generation to be a gamer as was the last. It's a fair statement. If you look at a lot of them, you get a good spread of either modern stuff with fresher good ideas, or you get a modern wannabe of the lost era (MM9, Pier Solar, etc.) If that floats your boat, you'll have a long run probably endless supply of damn good games that are a mix of pay or free.
I've picked up a few of them via Steam/GoG lately like Pier Solar and while it's rustic in style it's a solid game.

Are you referring to the "last two" to mean "the last two prior to the current" (i.e. 6th and 7th - PS2, oXbox, Gamecube | PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, etc.)? Or do you mean "the last two including the current" (i.e. 7th and 8th generation)? In the case of the former, I think a reasonably compelling argument could be made. If it's the latter I think it's way too early to call in terms of 8th gen systems specifically (IMO at any rate). YMMV naturally.KayJay wrote:The last two generations are the best in gaming history. Well, I really don't want to knock on the current or previous generations but in my mind, as cool as VVVVV, Super Meat Boy or Shovel Knight might be, they really can't compare with the likes of Contra Hard Corps, Super Metroid and Sonic 2 and stuff like Telltale adventure games really can't compete with Lucasarts.
You can make similar arguments for other genres, like FPSs and such too, so it's very debatable

Sorry, i didn't specify.
I meant PS2/GC/Xbox/Dreamcast, and 360/PS3/Wii generations.
By the way, i know that all gens are amazing. I love all games. I just happen to like these more. Erik_Twice has a point; it's pretty much just a difference of opinion, but any gen you prefer, there are amazing games for each respective genre.

That's how I feel. Most of the 7th gen games I dig are "retro-ish" but they still can't hold a candle to the actual retro classics.Erik_Twice wrote:Well, I really don't want to knock on the current or previous generations but in my mind, as cool as VVVVV, Super Meat Boy or Shovel Knight might be, they really can't compare with the likes of Contra Hard Corps, Super Metroid and Sonic 2 and stuff like Telltale adventure games really can't compete with Lucasarts.
