Great find on the Sony KV-30HS420! My parents actually had one of these TVs, I believe they purchased it right before the flat screens started to hit the market. Unfortunately, they got rid of it while I wasn't around. Maybe because they knew I would ask them to store it. Lol. The TV is definitely a beast though, I was amazed my father could lift and move this thing, as I definitely could not on my own.

Please share some pics when you get it going!

Also, Anapan, that calibration tool sounds interesting. Is that mainly for sets that have a built in DVD player?

Anything that hooks up to a DVD player, but seems to be geared toward wide-screen CRTs.

Seems like a useful tool, I was curious about how the DVD worked or walked you through the setup, so I appreciate the in-depth blog post and screenshots.

There's various other testing tools and files in the parent directories.
If you get a blue filter gel card or glasses you can calibrate the tint on the NTSC test signal without using the service menu.
