Then I would suggest Pit-Fighter. Even in the areas where it is crap, it is not crap enough.prfsnl_gmr wrote:What if you have an "ironic" collection of notorioulsy terrible games and you enjoy mocking exceptionally dated digitized graphics?Ack wrote:Yeah, I also own Batman Forever, and it is poor at best. There are much, MUCH better Batman games on the console. In fact, there are no categories I can think of where Batman Forever excels. I'd only pick it up if you were a completionist or a huge Batman fan.

You shouldn't hold the game to an impossible standard...and I am slightly disappointed to hear that it is not as terrible as I expected...Ack wrote:Then I would suggest Pit-Fighter. Even in the areas where it is crap, it is not crap enough.
Oh well, it is not going on the "want list".

I should say the game is relatively short for a JRPG. It should take you about 20 hours to beat.Ack wrote: Anyway, I'll be sure to give Robotrek a try, but I have such a backlog of games, it may be a while! I'd like to get back to Secret of the Stars eventually, and there's still Live A Live to beat, even if I have taken a break on that for several months now...

I'll have to give Robotrek another shot.
And call me crazy, but I think I may play through Lagoon one more time.

Yeah, I still need to get around to it. I've found things I liked about Secret of the Stars. I'm sure I'll find something at least a little redeeming in Lagoon.

It's decent from a historical standpoint. Keep in mind it's a port of what was originally a computer (X68000) JRPG and is similar to others from the era (specifically Ys I/II and the first three Hydlide games). The biggest issue is how frustrating the combat is in the SNES version.
Oh and the soundtrack rules.

Out Of This World also had some loading time.
Good on you playing Axelay

Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
Speaking of more SHMUPs, I played through another one and beat it this weekend. After beating U.N. Squadron and Super EDF, I guess I felt a bit cocky. So I decided to try a vert. And while I did manage to beat Imperium yesterday, it handed me my butt more than once. But as I played through it, I got better at spotting incoming tiny bullets and dodging them, trying to pick the best weapon for the job, and figuring out repetitive motions to make each impressive boss battle(and seriously, the size of those mechs were awesome!) a timed game that was more about consistency than it was about actually fighting.
I'm not sure where to go from here with the genre though. Phalanx, Super Nova, and Darius Twin have always kicked my ass, and Biometal practically makes me hyperventilate with everything that is going on. Axelay's vert design bothers me to the point I have trouble beating the first level. I suppose I should go back to Raiden Trad, and I have both D-Force and Firepower 2000. I don't even want to consider Gradius III just yet.

Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
Firepower 2000 is awesome but somewhat annoying.
It's a vertical scrolling shmup but the field is something like 1.5 "screens" wide so you constantly have to scroll left/right to snag weapon upgrades (which are stationary items, you don't get them from killing enemies).
It's a hard sonofa. I don't think I've made it past level three.

Heh, then you've made it one level past how far I made it. I like the game, but I am pretty terrible at it.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Firepower 2000 is awesome but somewhat annoying.
