Have you played the Wii or the DS Batman 2D games? I have the Wii one but haven't popped it in yet. How are they?

The ones by Wayforward? I'm familiar with them but haven't had a chance to play them yet. I never watched Batman Brave and the Bold, which they're based off of, which is probably why I never got around to playing them yet. I hear they're good, particularly the Wii version which is a beat'em up. I heard the DS version has some platforming elements.

Maybe I'll try out the Wii version in the next few days and report back.

Please do. I read good things about it, and I have been meaning to pick it up for some time. I would like to hear your impressions, however.

Ever play Adventures of Batman & Robin on the Genesis? It's anything but garbage. Plays like Gunstar Heroes.

I played the Sega CD version when my Sega CD still worked, and thought it was quite bland and forgettable. I still own the Game Gear version, and think the same thing about it. But I don't remember any run-n-gunning happening (Gunstar Heroes comment).

The Sega CD version is not the same game as the Genesis version. The Genesis version is a run n gun game, and a pretty damn good one too. Each version of The Adventures of Batman and Robin is a completely different game.

And you know nothing about old school Batman games if you haven't played The Adventures of Batman and Robin on the SNES. That's the best 2D Batman game ever made. No contest

I'll give it a shot if I come across it, for sure. But I seriously doubt it's better than the NES Batman game.

On topic (I guess)...how is the Sunsoft Batman game for the Gameboy? A local pawn shop has a copy, and I have been thinking about acquiring it.

It's great. Normally I don't go on about how great GB games are, but you'd like it. Plus, a shmup section later in the game! No love for the 2nd to last auto-scroll stage, however.

Since I am heading out of town this weekend, I am done for the month of April...which was a very big month for my collection.

Between the Hobie-Wan/Jmustang1968 sale, the purchase of two 2600 lots from other members, a Craigslist find, and a Gamestop sale, I added a nearly 100 games to my collection this month. Accordingly, I spent a bit more than usual, but my average cost per game this month was only $2.73 (which brought my average cost per game for the year down to $3.29). I try to keep in mind that purchasing four new games for modern consoles would have resulted in roughly the same outlay.

Thankfully, I offset about $50 of my costs this month with some eBay sales, but I did not factor the profits from those sales into my costs. (I also ended up with about thirty duplicate 2600 games. I passed about half of those on to bonesnapdeez for being an awesome member, and I will probably offer the rest of them to anyone who is willing to pay shipping.)

Aside from the 2600 games, my "best" find this month was the new copy of Guilty Gear XX^Core Plus (PS2) that I grabbed for $8. I anticipated some difficulty finding a copy in good shape at a good price, and I expected it to be one of the last games that I added to my PS2 collection. My other exciting find - which is not listed here - was a manual for Resident Evil: Code Veronica X (GC). I have been looking for one in good condition for over a year, and I now need only one manual to "complete" all of the games in my Gamecube collection. (I still need the manual for Beach Spikers (GC), BTW; so if you have one to spare, please send me a PM!)

I anticipate that, as it becomes increasingly difficult for me to find 2600 games, the pace of my collecting (and, hopefully, the rate of my spending) will slow. (There are still two locations in the Charlotte area that I have not yet visited since I started collecting for the system, however...)
