havent' decided if I'll emulate Axelay, or if I'll just stick to participating in games I can buy for real. This Truxton emulation mess really bothered me.

As far as I know, having the actual cartridge and having played it on emu, I don't see any differences here except for region. You should be ok, just grab the American (U) version and off you go.

As for mass voting on all games by the 31st, I'll do my best on research and try to keep up on the game choices, but I still think that's a bit much... we still gotta vote on 8 more sets of games in 2 weeks now? I'll try and keep up

Great scores on the arcade version of Truxton all -- keep it up!

I wouldn't consider Cannon Spike a shmup, strictly speaking...

I'm on the fence with this too. Cannon Spike is my favorite Psikyo game but it's not really a true shmup, more of just a shooting game in general. It's a fun game to score in though.

edit:
Dragon Blaze +3
Sol Divide +2
Sengoku Ace +1

My lack of shmup knowledge is showing!
ACK! All I know that it was for Dreamcast and I would have been able to score an easy copy for it (or at least an excuse to do so) As far as I know, Gunbird II (a SHMUP!) also received an American DC release, so it's just a simple swap.

I was being rushed out of the gate for a vote!

All right, Vote post edited/updated.

Duplicated here too

Strikers 1945 (original first game in series) + 3
Gunbird II + 2
Strikers 1945 II + 1

as long as you don't call them "shumps" I'm happy.
