Dude~! I loved watching Super Sunday that had 10 minutes of 3 shows: Big Foot, JEM, and Robotix. That was some quality Sunday morning programming in the 80s.flamepanther wrote:Never heard of Jem? That is truly, truly, truly outrageous.BoringSupreez wrote:This might make me "lame user of the day," but I have absolutely no idea what Jem is. Been hearing the name thrown around an awful lot lately, though.
It started as a line of music-themed fashion dolls for girls, made by Hasbro. However, Hasbro hired the same creative team of Marvel, Sunbow, and Toei that created the TransFormers and G.I. Joe TV sensations to handle the show. If you like those sort of '80s adventure shows, Jem has a lot of "guilty pleasure" potential--it has a lot of the same charming qualities (minus most of the violence), but it's the "girly" version. Many males of my generation were forced by their little sisters to watch it, and discovered that it was not entirely intolerable. It was also surprisingly adult for a show aimed at pre-teen girls.

I'm watching The Phoenix and Dark Phoenix Sagas of the X-Men Animated series from the 90s. It's in the middle of airing on Disney XD right now and is about to wrap up. I think the final episode is late tonight, at like 1 or 2 in the morning or something. I have my DVR set.
I freaking loved that show, and that is one of the best storylines from the show.

What do you mean? Well, while I'm not with the general consensus that X-Men 3 sucked but at the same time, it felt lacking compared the the previous 2. That and X-Men First Class and the Wolverine movie was so much better than it too.flamepanther wrote:What do you mean? I do recall taping the Dark Phoenix saga back in the day and watching it several times. Can't say the same for X3.

Pick an episode from the X-Men animated series, any episode...it was better than X-Men 3.D.D.D. wrote:It's been a long time but I think I remember it being better than X-Men 3.BurningDoom wrote:I'm watching The Phoenix and Dark Phoenix Sagas of the X-Men Animated series from the 90s. They've put together a pretty decent list there. The phenomenon of adult-accessible kids' shows, while perhaps more pronounced now, is nothing new. When I was growing up, there were shows my dad looked forward to watching as much as I did. This was no accident. When the creative staff of the most memorable kids' shows of the past give interviews, one thing you'll hear time and again is that they did their best to make shows that they personally would have enjoyed watching. Writer J. Michael Straczynski went so far as to basically write The REAL Ghostbusters for adults, but within acceptable guidelines for children. When he was no longer allowed to do this, he quit the show.Gamerforlife wrote:A little something for you guys to talk about
