Things in Kiev are getting out of hand. Yea I know this thread is for the Arab Spring but it's as good a place as any to talk about other places with social unrest.

Yes! Maybe a mod can do it for us :P Btw, I wonder if Brazil will also see more unrest as the World Cup approaches.

It seems like all the civil unrest decided to happen at the same time. It seems so strange to me.

I don't think it too strange, seeing one oppressed people rise up and fight tyranny for a better quality of living inspires others to do the same. The reason this is happening more rapidly than it has historically, is that the speed of news being spread is so fast and exposure to international non-censored media is so commonplace now, thanks to the interwebz... People are able to gather all the components to inspire others much more quickly and can reach a much larger group of people much much more easily, all while getting near instantaneous responses from media & sympathizers across the globe.

It's great to see true freedom of information put into practice and that is why this makes a lot of sense to me, actually :D

I think we can blame Gutenberg for all this unrest. If we hadn't given the peasantry movable type they wouldn't be organizing in this fashion.

I think injustice creates tension that builds over the years and due to globalisation as they see one country over the media explode into a riot , it creates a chain reaction. Arab countries with better living standards did not face riots like Egypt, Libya, Yemen, and others.

This shows the damage that has been done in Kiev. You can move the slider to before the protests and after.
