What are you listening to at the present? (genres helpful)

I love that band, all of their albums. It's one of the few bands me and the wife actually agree on. All That Remains, Metallica, Mudvayne, Misfits, old A.F.I., and Killswitch Engage are pretty much the bands that we do agree on.

All That Remains - The Fall of Ideals is their best album. Coincidentally it was produced by Adam D of Killswitch Engage. If you like KsE then you should check out Times of Grace which is Adam D and Jesse Leach (the original and best vocalist of KsE). It's basically Killswitch Engage that doesn't suck (just like old days, fuck Howard Jones, he sucks, I still have no idea why they didn't get Philip Labonte to be in the band, apparently he came a close second but they decided to go with Howard. Bizarre)

I'm currently listening to the greatest album ever produced:

I'm partial to the self-titled, myself! Great album though.

Yes, self titled is awesome as well. I prefer California as a whole better though. Coincidentally I'm listening to Mr Bungle right now.

Egg, egg, egg, egg, egg, egg, egg, egg. La, laa, la la la laa la, La, laa, la la la laa la.

have you guys ever listened to aftershock or overcast? or blood has been shed? i feel like i post about these bands everytime someone brings up KSE but no one ever gives me a response. i feel like the members' older bands are a lot better than what KSE has become, which just sounds like a watered down, bro-core in flames to me.

Why do so many people hate on Howard? I've loved KSE ever since Alive or Just Breathing and I see no reason to justify why some consider him a subpar vocalist..
Don't get me wrong, I think Phil on vox would have been an awesome choice when Jessie left, but Howard has done a great job as well. Him and Adam on stage are pure energy, something I never really saw with Jessie... I think too many people forget that half of the vocalist's job in a band is singing, and the other half is showmanship - and Howard, IMHO, does a better job in that department than Jessie did..

Reminds me of all the shit Tim ripper owens had to put up with when filling in as volcalist on Judas Priest and also Iced Earth. His work with Iced Earth I thought was pretty good

I thought he started on Glorious Burden and has been in since just recently when the original returned.

Man, am I EVER gonna miss Iced Earth. I started going to church again recently, and as a result I decided to stop listening to bands that have blatently Satanic, or anti- God/Christian lyrics. And unfortunately, there is a lot of anti-God stuff on Burnt Offerings, so I have to sadly say goodbye to an old favorite.

I don't think Iced Earth is anti-god at all actually. Schaefer seems to have a spiritual side. He talks about an old friend on one song who died years ago but he still feels his friend watching over him. Also, one song on Burnt Offerings actually deals with the 9 circles of hell in Dante's Inferno with the end of the song talking about the suffering of Satan and Judas in the final circle.

I'm not trying to tell you what to listen to, but I imagine Schaefer would be surprised if someone told him he is anti-god or anti-religion, but I may be wrong. I don't know the guy personally, but he strikes me as a man with some level of faith. I'm pretty sure he has mentioned "God" in a couple of his songs

It's sort of an old stereotype, metal bands being anti-god. Ozzy actually did an old song encouraging people to go to church and yet many people think that he and Black Sabbath were Satan worshippers

The only genre of metal that actually does seem to have quite a few Satan worshippers is Black Metal, but even there you have bands who don't follow that line of thinking
