And that, ladies and gentleman, is why you should never repair an Atari while watching porn...

Ticked: I bought a couch last week, scheduled delivery for today, and paid for the whole thing up front. Not a cheap prospect but in the long run it's the way to do things. I get a call last night telling me that the delivery is good to go, that I will hear from them again at 11am to get my delivery window.

11am comes and goes
So does noon

I call them at 1pm and am put on hold. Five times in a row they pick the phone back up to see if I am still there and put me back on hold without any explanation. Then they hang up on me.

I call again. They ask me to go on hold and I tell her "no way in hell, what is going on?" and she puts me on hold. Seriously. I hang up and try again. I tell the receptionist that if she puts me on hold again, I am going to drive up there and ask to speak to her supervisor. She finally tells me "The delivery truck is broken and we cannot deliver your couch this week".

Okay, so that was a WTF moment. I explain to her in unkind terms that no, I paid for delivery already. We have a contract. You cannot just arbitrarily decide to cancel my delivery and expect me to be okay with it. I paid my money up front and they were happy to accept it. This, of course, gets me talking to her supervisor who also seems unable to comprehend how stupid it is for a furniture store whose revenue is going to largely depend on delivery fees ONLY HAVE ONE TRUCK.

So I call up a buddy and we drive up in his truck to get the couch. Should have done that in the first place but I hate to ask friends for favors like that, especially when they don't have a lot of time off for themselves.

They were more than happy to load the couch into my friends truck. Then I told the sales lady she needed to refund my delivery fee and she resumed blinking in confusion. "That is not refundable, sir" she tells me. Another ten minutes pass as I explain to her that they have violated a contract and therefor forfeited their right to that money. The representative actually tried to claim that the delivery was not guaranteed...while standing next to a card board standee advertising "Guaranteed Delivery".

What the hell is wrong with customer service these days?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Dude, you ever handle a habanero then itch your nose? One of the worst feelings in the world! Even after you wash your hands, you can still fuck yourself up.
