Re: RPG Progress Report
Any Etrian Odyssey fans in here? I just turned on my 3DS for the first time in like 8 months... I had totally forgot I was in the middle of EO4. The beauty of EO is that it's so easy to jump back in and get into the rhythm of the game... I'm pretty sure it took me a year of on-and-off play to finish the first game, even though I really loved it (and the series in general).
I still have EO3 (which I skipped over) and Untold 1 waiting for me... and I haven't even purchased Mystery Dungeon (mmm mmm love them roguelikes) or Untold 2... and pretty sure EO5 is coming this year...
Damn! Too many RPGs!

No such thing as too many RPGs. I still have to do the post-game stratums in 3 & 4 and make it through the story of Untold 1; I haven't even touched Untold 2 yet.

Kingdom Hearts Final Mix- think I'm on my way to Hollow Bastion now. I've beaten every world up til this point except Herc's and i still need to find the rest of the dalmations and post cards...
Edit: what the heck were they thinking though with Atlantica's controls though? That was a nightmare to get through...

I am a fan of the series and own quite a few of the games. Even the Mystery Dungeon variant. However the only EO I've finished so far, has been EO: Untold 1 on 3DS. I played through its story mode on Expert without a guide, and that took me 115 hours. I didn't know what I was doing and had to bang my ahead against its brickwall bosses. That was some seriously hardcore gaming once you reached the third stratum. I recommend story mode in Untold 1 because you get an additional stratum with new bosses that weren't in the original.touchofkiel wrote:Any Etrian Odyssey fans in here?

Re: RPG Progress Report
So I think I'm about to do endgame on Xenoblade Chronicles. I pretty much streamed most of it through YT, Twitch and hitbox at the same time. I'd have to say, it's certainly one of the better RPGs ive played and am sad I didn't play it earlier. I guess I'll go farm for gems and grind some levels out for the next 5-10 hours. I had a little beef with the last couple of bosses and won by the skin of my teeth, one I in fact beat with my last live character and could only take one more hit. Gonna make that one a highlight lol.

In the non-story modes, it can a real killer when you realize one of your classes just isn't going to cut it anymore (cough alchemist). Even on normal mode the series is pretty hardcore. I'm looking forward to the story mode eventually.Exhuminator wrote:I am a fan of the series and own quite a few of the games. Even the Mystery Dungeon variant. I have a boatload of DS/3DS RPGs... PS1/PSP/Vita RPGs... PS3/PS4 RPGs... and massive backlog of GOG and emulated RPGs... that would probably take a lifetime, literally, to finish.MrPopo wrote:No such thing as too many RPGs.
But you're right, you can never have too many. In fact, I just ordered two more! Dark Souls 2 for PS4 (even though I'm intending to play Demon/DS1 first...) because it was cheap and I got an extra $10 credit... and a new copy of Oblivion GOTY to replace an older copy I had to sell.

Re: RPG Progress Report
I remember doing the post-game boss in EO1; you pretty much needed a completely set party with one slot available for your favorite damage dealer. If you deviated from the script then the boss would start tossing out random hit all attacks with a bunch of damage and had a nasty status effect. You'd see those following the script, it's just the script involved using the right Protector skill at the right time to negate it. Without the script you had a 1/3 chance of getting it right and a 2/3 chance of needing one of those rubber donuts.
