Well when the service dies the games are gone, just like anyone who had a pre-Nintendo network account wanting their VC games back on a Wii system -- too bad. That's digital for you, you don't own it, you're renting. At least in this case it's free as part of the total service and you have online play which River City and others would strongly benefit from.
I agree, I'd pay $50, for FF9, 7 not so much if it were physical.

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
yep, I have a love/hate relationship with FF7. If it comes out physically, I will buy it for the fourth time now. If it's digital only... we'll see.
Re: Switch Discussion Thread
I've never had a physical copy of 7 other than for, but digitally yes. I still feel the PC version was superior. I know lots of PS1 lovers coo about the audio on there, but if you had a SB16 level card and used the largest given font for FF7 attached to the Yamaha SYXG50 full sound synthesizer they licensed for use, the MIDIs are converted to using instrument samples and it sounds even better. A year or two back I discovered a sneaky way to actually get that program working again using the Coolsoft Virtual MIDI Synth and a few things, and found copies of the old sound fonts, plus this massive one called Timbres of Heaven (376MB font file) and it's nuts. I just liked it more on there with the higher resolution, video was a little less awful on compression, and even the later digital releases were hit and miss on cleaning it up as well.
FF9 really never got the treatment, FF8 did on PC though. FF9 got ignored until PSN and mobile releases as a fat download.

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
I didn't own a Playstation when Final Fantasy VII came out, so I bought the PC version. I'm still kicking myself for trading it in for £2 not realising how much it was worth. I never had an issue with the PC's different music to be honest, but then I never sat and compared them. It's the PC version I really grew up with, but I did also experience the PS1 original at friend's houses and I eventually did buy it of course later when I got a PS1.
Own: Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast, Playstation 1, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, PS Vita, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Wii U, Game Boy Advance, DS, 3DS, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox, Xbox 360
Re: Switch Discussion Thread
Here's my immediate reactions! I really can't believe how well Nintendo is doing this time around. Looks like every other
2018:
Pokemon Let's Go and Super Smash Brothers are fantastic ways to end to end 2018. I love that Isabelle is in Smash. She's a fan favorite so it's cool to see her get some love; as long as they don't go overboard like they did with Fire Emblem characters it'll be fine.
Waiting on Super Mario Party to see how it reviews. Could be a return to greatness, or crash and burn. We'll see.
Team Sonic Racing is a wait and see for me, too. I'm worried that the Sonic & Sega All-Stars series had a lot of fan appeal, and this is but another kart game among others.
On the fence about the online service, but will wait and see. Those controllers are beautiful and the lineup of NES games looks really reassuring. $20 for a year does not sound bad at all as far as pricing goes.
2019:
Finally, a mainline Animal Crossing game. I cannot wait, as it's only been 10 years since Animal Crossing City Folk on the Wii.
Luigi's Mansion 3 looks great. Never played Dark Moon but perhaps this will give me motivation to. Will probably skip the Luigi's Mansion remake since I already have the GameCube version.
Katamari Damacy Reroll announcement is really exciting, I've been wanting to play that one again!
All of the Final Fantasy! I've really wanted to play Chocobo's Dungeon and having 7 on the Switch would be wonderful. I hope 8 eventually gets some love, but it's not likely, since 8 is the only one missing on the PS Store.
Yoshi's Crafted World looks just as great as Wooly World, and I can't wait.
Nothing on Metroid, but it's out there. I believe Retro Studios won't disappoint, either.
Overall I think Nintendo really seems to be hitting their stride. I'm feeling really good about being a Switch owner lately.

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
Not sure about the US, but apparently Japan is getting a physical release of the Capcom Beat-Em-Up Collection.

Well looks like I am importing it...though that december 6th date is rough:

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
Okami HD is also physical in the Asian area for Switch too.
yesasia.com has this and the capcom brawler bundle too. Okami is $35USD shipped (they do free shipping on items like $29 and higher.) It's where I got I Am Setsuna from and I paid the same price as the digital rental in the US too which was awesome. They were friendly/fast, game arrived in under 2 weeks. I definitely recommend them. I used to be into using yes-asia but they've gotten damned greedy in the last few years probably from getting too popular.
Here's the brawler bundle: https://www.yesasia.com/us/capcom-belt- ... /info.html
And here's Okami HD: https://www.yesasia.com/us/okami-zekkei ... /info.html
Enjoy.
I strongly suggest bookmarking them and checking for when games come out we got screwed on with digital as if it hits real media, they sell it and for less than the other places I'm aware of too and it ships free on top of that as well, plus no tax as it's out of the country so it's a triple saving trifecta.
If Onimusha ends up digital in the US too, here's this: $38 https://www.yesasia.com/us/onimusha-nor ... /info.html
