Haha!
I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to 16-bit JRPGs. If it exists I'll probably like it. But Robotrek is one of the duds.
To be fair, I haven't played it in ages. I may fire it up again to get a fresh perspective.
What RPG are you playing right now?

You should do that. Robotrek is a fantastic game from back when Quintet and Enix still knew what the hell they were doing. I think I'm going to replay it next year actually.

I'm also planning on giving Robotrek a go at some point next year, possibly right after Secret of Evermore.
I've been meaning to get to playing it for over a year now, I just have been wanting to knock out a lot of the classics...and the crap.

Going to stick to handhelds for the remainder of the year. I can play upstairs where it's warmer.
Crystalis on GBC is up next. After that I'll likely play Final Fantasy Adventure.

I love Crystalis, but I really cannot recommend the GBC port.

BoneSnapDeez wrote:Just as Ack has played many SNES RPGs this year I think I'll do the same next year but with a mixture of Super Famicom and SNES games. Some will be first time plays, some will be replays. Arcana, Brain Lord, Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma, Live a Live, and Twisted Tales of Spike McFang are on the tentative list.
How many of those will be replays for you?

Most.
I haven't finished Arcana, Brain Lord, or Spike yet so I'm most excited about those.
It's really rough.
But I felt compelled to try it out. I'm a ports junkie. If I love a game I need to try every variation possible. This is why I completed the horrendous Famicom version of Ys earlier this year.

For some reason, I thought you had finished Brain Lord. Then again, maybe you said you hated it...or is that Brandish I am thinking of?
Anyway, I find your list kind of funny. In the games you present to get through, I have beaten Arcana, Brain Lord, and Live a Live but haven't beaten the others. I guess we're doing a weird reverse somehow.
I've started up Secret of Evermore, but I don't know if I will get to beat it before the end of the month. So by the end of 2015, I want to be through Secret of Evermore, Robotrek, Illusion of Gaia, and Super Ninja Boy. I may possibly go for Soul Blazer or Twisted Tales of Spike McFang if I can get my hands on them.

I have not finished Brain Lord. Played it, but haven't finished it. What I have played it decent. Looking forward to working my way through it, as it is a Produce game like The 7th Saga and Mystic Ark.
Brandish is fun / annoying. There's nothing else like it. Except for maybe Brandish 2.
Secret of Evermore isn't that long from what I recall. Should be under 20 hours.
