Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
Just as Ack has played many SNES RPGs this year I think I'll do the same next year but with a mixture of Super Famicom and SNES games. Some will be first time plays, some will be replays. Arcana, Brain Lord, Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma, Live a Live, and Twisted Tales of Spike McFang are on the tentative list.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on Twisted Tales. It's one that I've been interested in for a while, but it's on the more expensive side so I've never made the jump and gone for it.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Just as Ack has played many SNES RPGs this year I think I'll do the same next year but with a mixture of Super Famicom and SNES games. And I expect I'll be continuing my SNES RPG gaming next year. Secret of Evermore, it's time I finally get through you.

Ah yes, I think I'll be replaying that one as well.
It's awesome. It's like a "dark" and atmospheric Secret of Mana. The ambient soundtrack is amazing and unlike anything else on the SNES.
The game is a little wonky in places. It feels like it was rushed to production and some of the dungeons are too maze-y and not as refined as they could have been.
Still a great experience though. My daughter and I were just watching a longplay, in fact.

I'm looking forward to it. The last time I played it, I got to the futuristic world before getting bored. That would have been...oh, a decade ago I think?
Anyway, I want to eventually track down and beat all of the RPGs released on the NTSC-U SNES. I have gone through a solid chunk of the library, but there is a lot more to cover. I look forward to swapping stories with you, Bone, and with the community as a whole as I get through them. Should be fun.

Are you sure about your SoE progress? Pretty sure you're like 75% of the way done with the game when you reach the futuristic world.
Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
More like 85%. The last world is the shortest.
My biggest problem with SoE was the alchemy system. It was an interesting idea but when combined with the SoM spell leveling you ended up having to toss a ton of money at getting your spells into a decent form. Plus it was frustrating only being able to equip 8 at a time, compared to SoM's all.

Yeah, I know. I wish I had finished it off, but at the time I didn't realize how close I was to the end. I'm sure I'll get through it again though. It's not that difficult of a game, so I'll force myself to sit down and finally knock it out.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Are you sure about your SoE progress? And then I can go play something like Super Ninja Boy.
