Oooooh dude I think I own it or a part of it. Are you talking about those more teen/adult based TSR books? They were called Endless Quest. Most were D&D style, but you had a few that went into other TSR made non-of that style realm like robots and junk. I have 12 of the books actually, these:
- Endless Quest #1 - Dungeon of Dread
- Endless Quest #3 - Pillars of Pentegarn
- Endless Quest #4 - Return to Brookmere
- Endless Quest #6 - Revenge of the Rainbow Dragons
- Endless Quest #7 - Hero of Washington Square
- Endless Quest #8 - Villains of Volturnus
- Endless Quest #9 - Robbers and Robots
- Endless Quest #10 - Circus of Fear
- Endless Quest #11 - Spell of the Winter Wizard
- Endless Quest #13 - Dragon of Doom
- Endless Quest #14 - Raid on Nightmare Castle
- Endless Quest #23 - Blade of the Young Samurai
They're fun to mess with randomly to see if you get slaughtered or not. They're very rogue like where you can just keep prodding a stick at it and not feel too bad about going the wrong way as the story is so all over it has lots of progression tree branches to it. A digital version of one of those would open a lot more doors.

Yeah this is much more akin to the Lone Wolf series and the Sorcery! series (also down by Steve Jackson). I am down for this!noiseredux wrote:close, but not quite. This was part of the Fighting Fantasy series of books: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fighting_Fantasy

I played through the whole campaign in single player, and it's my favorite Final Fantasy game, so it's definitely still possible to enjoy it without multiplayer. The main reason I would actually, personally, recommend playing it in single player, is because it has such a great story that is liable to be missed in part, or entirely, by playing it multiplayer. The downside is obviously not having as much flashy/exciting combat, and it's a fairly tough game alonealienjesus wrote:It's good fun in multiplayer. So what's it like? Worth checking out?

It is a very tough game because of its design relying on multiplayer but it definitely is my favorite final fantasy spin off because of it's amazing art direction and soundtrack and world design. So good! I cant wait to play with you all!pierrot wrote:I played through the whole campaign in single player, and it's my favorite Final Fantasy game, so it's definitely still possible to enjoy it without multiplayer. Seems that Warlock of Firetop Mountain is a direct conversion of an iOS game and on Steam too out about 2 years ago now. Steam is $20, iOS is $8, and Nintendo has a presell of $24 or $30 when new. Is there really any advantage of paying that much more? I'm somewhere between Steam due to things kept up to date for OS's, and then the Apple one as it's my phone.

I played it on Steam a couple years back. But it always felt like it'd be a better title for portable play. I don't like games on my phone personally. I'll be interested to see if it gets a physical Switch release.Tanooki wrote:Seems that Warlock of Firetop Mountain is a direct conversion of an iOS game and on Steam too out about 2 years ago now. Anyway, I'm still really into Dead Cells. This is one of my favorite games of the year honestly. I've now got the Ram Rune, which lets you break through certain floors to access hidden areas. Last night I got up to Conjunctivitis, a gigantic eyeball boss who was a real pain in the ass because he takes up so much of the screen, and his movement around the screen makes it difficult to find a good place to drop a turret.
I also had a run last night where I got killed in the Ossuary and lost 67 cells. SIXTY-SEVEN CELLS! It was the most devastating run I've ever had. (I'm trying to unlock the Health Potion III perk right now).
Re: Switch Discussion Thread
Dead Cells I'm glad got a physical release, looks solid. I just fear I don't know when/if I can get to it.
I'm picking away at Octopath and realizing it's larger than first appearances with the map and just got my 3rd, a female hunter and she's Lv2 or something so she'll need a boost before proceeding. Ys8 I'll get back around to and Code of Princess eventually even if it's more of a secondary being a rehash of a 3DS game I finished.
Future has Vesperia in January, and before that has Monsterboy, Dark Souls, Mega Man 11 for this year still.

FYI:
Nintendo wrote:Hello,
On 9/18, your Nintendo Switch will be receiving a system update, version 6.0.0. Afterwards, it will no longer be possible to unlink your Nintendo Account from your Nintendo Switch user profile. Prior to this change, you should verify that your Nintendo Account or your child’s Nintendo Account is linked to the correct user profile.
For example, please confirm that the parent’s or legal guardian’s Nintendo Switch user profile is linked to the parent’s or guardian’s Nintendo Account, and that the child’s Nintendo Switch user profile is linked to his or her child account.
By ensuring that your Nintendo Account is linked to the correct user profile, you will be able to appropriately manage your save data, Nintendo Switch Online membership, and Nintendo eShop content.
