DB Super is so fucking good. I'm speechless. The one hour double episode 109-110 combo was insane.

I love that crazy anime! It's like a mad max anime directed by Quentin Tarrantino.

As soon as I was starting to sort of get bored of this arc...

WHAM.

The encounter with Jiren was going to be a make or break moment for Super and they really nailed it. I like that they don't keep the DBZ-style intensity and seriousness a constant so when it actually happens it's got much more of an impact.

Yeah it's been a continuation of Buu's tone, or it's like the best of both worlds with DB and Z mixed. I'm absolutely loving this arc. The only complaint I have is that stupid love fairy turd needs to go and is still somehow there.

Next episode looks amazing too. I'm digging Hit and all of Universe 6 way more now.

The Sailor Moon parody thing with the goofy transformation was funny but it's overstayed its welcome, I agree.

I always liked Hit but that whole...

"What do you want Universe 6 assassin?"
"I'm working."

... moved him up several tiers of awesome.

I just subscribed to Funimation's service yesterday. The amount of available series is awesome!

Going to be watching Sailor Moon as I just remembered that I have Season 1 & 2 on DVD. I completely forgot I had it until I was looking at pictures of the stuff I have. >. >

I regrettably haven't been updating to this thread all year. Woops! So here's an anime I watched recently:

Blade Runner Black Out 2022 | 2017 | 9/10

Blade Runner Black Out 2022 is an OVA directed by Shinichiro Watanabe. It serves as a prequel to the live-action film Blade Runner 2049. The plot here concerns rogue Tyrell replicants that orchestrate an EMP blast offer Los Angeles, which resulted in the great Black Out. Afterwards all replicant production was banned and the Tyrell Corporation went bankrupt, only for the Wallace Corporation to acquire the company and restart production of a new model a decade later. Black Out 2022 has high production values, excellent animation, great direction, and works well as an important link between the original Blade Runner and 2049. It's very impressive how much action, emotion, and meaningful plot was crammed into the short runtime. As a fan of Blade Runner I really enjoyed this OVA.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

I hope 2049 does better in Japan (maybe China too?)... Blade Runner arguably defined an entire era of anime back in the 80's and early 90's in sci-fi, I've seen them by the dozens and the Blade Runner influences are point blank. Although I think the Akira manga came out months later in December 1982 as well. I'm sure the influences bleed together though.

Black Out was solid with the length it had to work with. I honestly don't want Blade Runner milked at all, but I actually don't think I would mind if Watanabe got to do a full series. I have a hard time enjoying modern sci-fi anime, but everything about Black Out was solid and I could easily enjoy more of that.

Bubblegum Crisis is one of the most obvious about taking its influence from Blade Runner.

Been slowly watching 7 Deadly Sins on Netflix on the weekends when there’s laundry to fold and the wife and kid are out. It is ok.
